Memorial City is the only place I've regularly seen people in arguments over who was waiting on a parking spot first. Once has a guy try to race me into a spot I was waiting on first.

I really have to have a reason to go there to bother with it anymore, though at some point realized the second floor of the Dillards garage is normally pretty empty.

I think you're mistaken on timing. By 2011, the Westin had opened up, and the mall had been completely redeveloped to the tune of half a billion dollars. Until Sears closed (which was a Sears problem), the mall hadn't lost an anchor since 2006, when Mervyn's shut down nearly everywhere.

Memorial City was at its bleakest when Town & Country Mall was built in the early 80's...but it closed down around 2005. The anchors (Dillard's in particular) from T&C moved to Memorial City and that was that.

The zip code the mall is situated in typically hangs out on the list of wealthiest per capita zip codes in the country (around 50th nationally), and it's been that way for quite a while.

Maybe earlier than 2011. Around 2005-2010. It was dark and gloomy like Fry's electronics with horrible tiles.

I was a big fan of these malls as a youth:
    baybrook
deauville fashion mall (across from baybrook)
highland and barton creek in austin. Used to take the bus to these.

Spent the most time in Brazos Mall

Was Town and Country Mall, the one that had the software/games store - Babbages?

Used to love that place as a kid.

I think most malls had Babbage. Used to be on my regular rotation of stores to visit as a kid while my mom was occupied at Montgomery Wards and Foleys. I think Babbages ended up getting bought out by KB Toys

I used to also hit up Walden Books and spend like an hour reading video game magazines like GamePro and EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly). Man, totally miss those care free days

The Galleria is great, one of the best malls in the country, although it seems to always have at least one escalator not operating. I think most other Houston malls suffer from its popularity because many are declining in business.

Houston has too many one-story malls. Outdoor malls make no sense because it's too hot and too much rain.

it did have a Babbage's. And a Tilt. I joke with some friends that my usual watering holes are in CityCentre and where we might have gone to hang out at that exact spot to walk around and play video games, we do so over a beer now.
