Wow, that is really sad. I hope in time he can recover some movement, but that press release doesn't sound too good. All the best to him and his family. I respected that after being considered a bust for a #2 pick, he managed to carve out a long and somewhat productive NBA career.

Reminds me of poor Rodney Rogers, who was paralyzed in an dirt bike accident years back. I haven't heard much about his current condition.

(edit) just realized they were both from the same draft, 1993. Picks #2 and #9. What a strange coincidence.

I'm surprised it took this long for the news to get out.

I hope he makes a recovery, but from the sound of it that seems unlikely. I've heard only good things about him as a person. Very sad.

It said he was hit by a car while riding his bike.

There was some video (or maybe it was an article) about him I watched a few years ago where he was living on his farm or ranch or something and he seemed like a cool dude. He was focused on his chores and taking care of his family, for the most part. Seemed like a good guy. This really does suck. Geez. Nothing good ever happens in Utah.

In a statement, the Dallas Mavericks announced that Bradley was left paralyzed and spent eight weeks in the hospital following neck fusion surgery after being struck by a car while riding his bike in January. The former 7'6" center played in the NBA for 12 seasons and spent nine seasons with the Mavs.

I hope all the best for him and his family though a part of me wondered "How the hell do you hit a guy riding his bike who's 7'6" in the first place??" when I first read this story.

I know people don't understand LDS or Mormonism but Bradley worked extensively on trying to turn youth and people's lives around without necessarily trying to convert them but a more secular approach. Hope he manages well.

Just a block from his own home too. Just awful.

My first thought: whoever hit him was either texting or dozed off while driving.

Same thought I had. I've actually be hit from behind in my parked car, while inside the car, because the driver was on her phone texting. Was not fun.

Sorry to hear that. It's kind of a miracle that about half of us aren't dead from all the driving and texting you see every day.

Has anybody clarified if it's full-body, or waste down?
