At the time of the Harden trade, I thought we would eventually get two #1's for O. I'm know many weren't as optimistic then. On top of that, he's had a tough stretch trying to get healthy. But, now...Vic's got his game back. Fluid moving and freestroking. Playing in control. Several might actually say we need to keep him....I wouldn't go that far personally, but that might get some traction during trade talks providing more leverage.
I think we are looking at a 1st with expirings, or similarly valued prospect with expirings. Anything less is simply not acceptable and I hope Stone can exceed this arguably low bar.
I think we will be considering taking on non-expring bad contracts (like Gary Harris) in order to bump up the price
Not being able to prove himself on back to backs makes me doubt if we can anything more than two SRP's. If he can play extremely well until March the 25th, then a future FRP along with a useful role player might be possible . Prove me wrong Oladipo! Prove me wrong!
A first pick plus a pick swap in 2099, and we will be here talking about how we finessed those suckers.
He had 1 good game. I dont know how much that does for his value. We will get an expiring and a top 8 protected first.
we will get less tunnel vision, less ballhoging, and less of having no clue how to throw a lob environment
Harris + Hampton + Nnaji or Bol + FRP for Oladipo + Augustin + House would be a very interesting expansion of the current trade.
MPJ isn't up for grabs. Will Barton might be a possibility, I guess if Denver becomes desperate. I would rather let Oladipo 's contract expire instead of that.
I’ll add that keeping Vic is not acceptable. We aren’t gonna get more for him with a sign and trade in the offseason.
If a team like Miami for example doesn’t already know dipo has interest in them in the summer they’re not going to give much significantly for a 2 month rental. The 2 month rental wipes out a ton of destinations already. Which is why Miami is able to just sit back right now and wait.
I don’t think we’ll get much honestly. He hasn't played that well and is still an injury risk. I think its unlikely that any team ponies up major assets for him given that harsh reality and the fact that he’ll be a FA this summer. I would be pleasantly surprised if we ended up with even a single frp in lottery range. I think our best option is we end up keeping him, he stays healthy, and he balls out in the second half of the season. This would open up the possibility of a sign and trade and hopefully the generation of a large trade exception since we’d be operating over the cap. I know we all have trade exception blue balls at this point but we’re bound to use one at some point, right?
We can expand on this trade to take on Kelly Oubre Jr's salary from Golden State which will save them more than $40 millions in luxury tax. We probably won't get the Minny pick from them but we could get GS own 1st round pick this year to save them the luxury tax.
