[Woj] Rockets are expanding trade discussions on Harden

Yeah that's true lol, but no Nets? Assuming it's true that's kinda new.

 

I don’t think the nets were ever a serious contender. They just don’t have the assets. I don’t think Morey is letting James get away. All those crying Philly fans will change their tune as soon as harden hops on a plane out of Houston and drops a 50 burger within his first 10 games there. Simmons is the best player the rockets can get back, Morey is just lowballing the picks right now.

Boston could swoop in with a better package but not a better player than Simmons. I don’t think Ainge will give up the goods to do it.

 

Simmons is good, but not great. If the Rockets want to be mediocre, cool. They should sign Simmons. The dude can pass and play defense, but he’s not a shooter. Most of his buckets come from layups and dunks.

I just don’t see how Simmons fits next to Wall if he can’t shoot. And, the Rockets will eventually have to decide whether to give him the max, which he isn’t worth, or let him walk. Personally I’d rather the Rockets get some key pieces and a lot of graft picks for a rebuild. Sign a guy like Brown or not f you can make a trade for a young player like Murray, you do it in a heartbeat. That dude is a stud and was clutch in the playoffs

Reading his 3 tweets from December 18th really puts me off Simmons. We know we won't get someone as good as Harden back but these do not paint a pretty picture.

Anytime i see these caveats in “insider” tweets it sends alarm bells that they are full of it. Morey and Stone would never operate with standing offers like this meant for future execution. Stone has a standard asking price for Harden and anyone can offer anything they want at any given time. Morey wouldn’t make that offer to get Harden if it couldn’t be executed aggressively. Morey knows trade rules for newly signed players. There’s just no way that a viable offer on the table... none.

Philly and Houston probably never got past the overall trade structure of who gets picks in the deal. Simmons for Harden was likely agreed to but both sides were off on who should also compensate who with picks or young players that are mutually exchangeable for a pick potentially. Of Morey and Stone agreed in principle, they would have a deal done today. The fact that they don’t means structurally they are off and probably not even talking until one of them folds.

My take away is a lot of people really crave Twitter attention and don’t really care about how honest people think they are. The guy who predicts future trades is the guy who reports them when they are actually agreed to.

Right on. Not completely..but, they're talking late in the game..and, that's a good thing.

And, Maxey had been mentioned as possibly being included earlier.

 

I really want Ben. I've been stoked about him as a pro since watching him at LSU. He's subjugated his game due to Embiid"s presence. Ben's been a different player when JE is off the court AND they let him play his game. You take him off Philly and open up the floor....move him between point forward/ driving off the wing..to working deeper inside. Superb ball handling for his size, with GREAT vision..
Also, a big rebounder...Thst will go up here. And, of course one of the best finishers in the game.
He won't be taking it up top. A much more efficient game with the Rockets.
An absolute beast defensively...capable of locking down all five spots.
Who gives a damn If he doesn't have a shot yet!?!

Simmons numbers will go up across the board while increasing efficiency.

We'll be getting the Ben Simmons that everyone projected.
