Can Rockets make playoffs with Simmons and Wall next 3 seasons?

If Simmons is the best deal available, you take him. But you have to seriously consider flipping him for another star if opportunity presents itself.

 

Even when they were healthy Wall and Cousins could barely lead their respective teams to respectable records, much less the playoffs. And unless Simmons miraculously develops his shot I don't see him developing into the kind of dependable star we need to shore up the weaknesses of the other two stars and carry our mediocre role players.

 

Harden is only replaceable by KD in terms of solo scoring and talent. Even the finely tuned trio of Curry, Thompson, and Green can barely compete with Harden if he's truly super saiyan. It's a dilemma to behold.

The Rockets not only will suck with Simmons, but we'll have a very disgruntled team once Simmons starts behaving like a spoiled diva. Simmons CANT SCORE THE BASKETBALL. You cant build a franchise around a guy who's scared to shoot a jumpshot

 

Technically Harden doesn't shoot jumpshots either.

 

What if it was a three team deal and we got other draft picks that way

 

Simmons can score the ball............Without Embiid he was good at scoring, just embiid never gives him the ball back once simmons passes it to him

 

By the trade deadline the toon of these teams will change. These Teams will not be able to compete with ATLANTA. They will be the new scary team in the East. In the end they will look to cover their losses so they can re-tool.

 

Wall made the Playoffs 4 out of 5 years before he got hurt......Past the first round twice, The first round losses were in 6 and 7 games respectfully

In this hypothetical scenario, it's not really a matter of "can." On paper, is there enough talent for that team to feasibly make the playoffs? Yes, but there are a million question marks.

What do Cousins and Wall look like, and how healthy will they be? Does Simmons improve, or is he the same guy sans jump shot he is today? Is Gordon still terrible or even still on the roster? If PJ is gone, too, how do you replace his defense? Does Wood reach his potential? Do any of your role players you've added to the core actually pan out? What does Silas end up looking like as a head coach? Is Tilman actually willing to pay the luxury tax?

Anyways, that's a really long-winded way of saying "maybe," but the difference between the floor and the ceiling on that team is huge. They could end up as a top 10 team, or they could be a complete dumpster fire.

 

Simmons is an enigmatic talent. I just don't think it makes a lot of sense to pull him in with the outlay to Wall over the same period of time. They don't fit together at all. You take him if the's the best you could get, but I think I'd prefer a Boston package (with more picks/assets) around Brown, or Miami/Herro, etc...

 

There is no point in tanking. The Rockets don’t have their pick until 2022. They have the following picks:

There is a massive reason for tanking. Tell me, what do we hope to achieve through a rebuild? Wouldn't we want to cleanse the franchise of all toxic elements and start fresh? Given that, what's the point of anything if on the other side we still have a douchebag megalomaniac owner. Any players we trade for will still bail as soon as they can and no stars will sign here. If tanking racks up enough financial loss for him to sell then that's a necessary evil.

With Otto porter included the Bulls get the expiring contracts and thus 50 million in Cap space next year. They can sign a bigtime free agent or drive a sign and trade scenario

 

Simmons just can score 1x points equal Aaron Gordon or Eric Gordon level. It does not worth to get him. It is Morey's tricks. Only Embrid is worth to trade with sixers

And national media clowns expect us to trade him for a guy that is a losing player who can't shoot, and some garbage 1st round picks, or Levert + trash + trashier picks.
