Before Silas becomes too attached, move EGo + pick(s) in 3 team trade and bring in AG. Perhaps this last ditch effort to improve roster will incentivize Harden to return sooner than later and ride with us for another season. But need to do this now.
This might be a chicken and egg type situation. Harden wants the franchise to prove they are fully committed to competing: ie Gordon trade and Tucker extension. The front office probably feels they’ve made several moves to prove they are committed to winning, but want Harden to show some commitment before spending assets that could be used in a rebuild. I think we should call him on it. Force him to make a fool of himself. I don’t think Harden will find much sympathy around the league.
You and I are going in opposite directions on this then. Harden holds the leverage right now, need to placate the franchise player instead of further alienating him. This also goes a long way to show the rest of NBA and future Rockets players, that the organization is serious about winning and a fantastic place to play. Trade EGo, ASAP.
Yeah. I’m not interested in going there at this point. He’s already demanded a trade and publicly embarrassed the franchise. I am absolutely fine discussing a variety of scenarios with him. “Hey - if we trade this guy for that guy, what do you think? What if we extend Tucker?” All of that. But actually making those moves...no. Sign the extension.
Tilman's hardball shut up and listen approach has cost Rockets a ton of resources: Jeff Bzdelik Ariza Monte McNair Gerson Rossas MDA Morey Westbrook And in danger of losing Harden.
Not suggesting that. We need to pay the tax. We need to make it clear we are all in if he is. this is a 2 way street, and giving someone EVERYTHING they want is the surest way to guarantee they want nothing to do with you. That, as much as Tillman’s mistakes, is why we are in this mess....we gave him everything, with no boundaries.
@D-rock Im starting to think we will trade Harden. If I’m Harden and I’m saying I want to see you make a move that to me makes the team my best option to win, is Aaron Gordon that move? When you compare what the 76ers would look like after a Harden trade vs what Houston would look like after an Aaron Gordon trade, the 76ers still look better IMO. I’ve never believed that Nets stuff. That looks like leverage to get him to his preferred destination...Philly.
I would still do the AG trade, his energy and work ethic would create more positive atmosphere around Harden return, even if short. EGo is acting too snakey right now. I want him gone rebuild or not. And I've been an EGo booster from the beginning, I said it was the better signing between him and Ryno at the time. But his passive aggressive BS has worn on me. Every post season he complains about his role.
If there is no rebuild (per Silas) then keeping PJ Tucker makes too much sense. Am I missing something? Upgrade has to come via another player trade.
Am I the only person that realize the Rockets lost to the Lakers? if the rockets played any other team in the 2nd round they would probably been in the WCF. I just don’t get why people were so down on this season. And I definitely don’t understand trading Russ at all. Harden & Russ would been stuck with me if I was the owner. I just don’t get it
Front court is overloaded (Vucevuc, Gordon, Isaac, Aminu, Bamba, Okeke, Birch). They could get two FRPs out of the deal as well as 6MOY candidate (EGo) + one of best value contracts in NBA (House) who gets to go back to Orlando - yay!
