I always love fluff pieces. It gets me all excited going into the season. I can't wait to see how he looks this preseason.

This is the training camp hype period where everyone feels better than ever.

I'm confident Wall did put in all the effort he could to return to playing form from such a devastating injury but at the end of the day he tore his achilles.

I'll have to see it to believe it.

This reminds me of the Dwight articles that would come out before the season where he felt "better than ever". Hopefully this is different and still has me pumped either way

Firm believer that Wall still has plenty of game left and the work he has put in will pay off. Can't wait to see him on the court when the season starts

Dude has an impressive commanding voice. Like when he talks it's just smooth. He can be a good vocal leader.

As much as I am afraid for the injuries he's coming back from, John Wall is clearly way more down-to-earth than any of the players in the Harden era. You can argue CP3 was like that, but John has the personality that can easily be molded to one of a leader.

Good read. Kind of a puff piece but not even in the same universe as the annual Feigen puff pieces (which should be dropping any day now).

I hope Wall has some great games ahead of him. He seems like a good dude and I'd like to see him shed the reputation of being the worst contract in NBA history.

I was surprised at the level of competition in the bubble.

This is going to be fun.

    Barring injuries and drama.

This team has a lot of intrigue and uncertainty. It makes for a anxious but exiting time. Depressing with Harden situation but still a lot of unknowns to be exited about.

Like what if Wall's confidence now matches reality? What if Cousins can go back to at least 80% of who he was? What if Wood actually grows into the hype he's been getting? What if EG can return to the shooter we know he can be? What if Silas implements a more fun system with more movement, more p&r, and more pace while holding stars accountable? What if Harden reforms and decides it's time win a ring with these guys?

This team has a amazingly high ceiling and a VERY low floor. It's that gap in possibilities that just wants me to fast forwards to the first preseason game and seeing these guys actually play against NBA defenses.

I am cautiously optimistic. Wall and we are lucky that due to Covid he was able to have an extra 6-8 mos to avoid the grind when both he and the team would have been so eager for him to return. I have long believed that a number of NBA and other sports stars ruined their careers by coming back to early from injuries. There is great pressure for them to do so and despite advances in therapy there is something to be said for "time healing all wounds" E.g Bill Walton, Yao, etc. Walton finally came back for a productive season as a reserve for a year or two after retiring for iirc 3 years.

If we get lucky and he is at 100% it might be what gets Harden to willingly stick around for a year to see what is going on.

Being optimistic somewhat in the bounds of reality doesn't cost anything.

Sports medicine continues to improve, Wall was under 30 when the procedure happened, it was his non-dominant leg and he had a lot of nagging injuries that have probably finally healed and he's also pretty far from the procedure now. He looked pretty good in those pickup game clips.

Us getting a 90-95% pre-injury John Wall with an improved shot might not be that likely but it's not unfathomable. I'll hold out hope.

Agreed. I think the fact that Russ was scrimmaging the second day he arrived in DC, tells you that there are some hungry teams out there.

I never expected the Suns to go 8-0 in the bubble and still be kicked out by half a game deficit. Going to be brutal in the West for sure.
