Knicks eyeing Pacers guard Oladipo as trade candidate

Will Russ be an alternative if things don't work for the Knicks, I wonder? Other teams can give Indiana better assets for Vic.

 

If this is an Amico scoop then it's probably made up. Amico is crap.

 

I would agree with any other Amico scoop but man does this sounds very Knicks-ian.

The New York Knicks have acquired [past his prime or injured player] from the [team with the better GM who you know just fleeced the Knicks] for a package that includes [scrub players that are valuable as expiring contracts ], [an actual young player that could blossom into an All-Star if only the Knicks had better player development], and [draft picks that prove to be valuable later].

I'm not a huge Oladipo fan but if I were to guess:

Taj Gibson (expiring contract)
Wayne Ellington (expiring contract)
Kevin Knox (young player with potential)
Knicks 1st Rounder 2021
LA Clippers 1st Rounder in 2021

 

Those 5 pieces for Oladipo?

That's a lot of assets to give up for a player who's most likely going to peak as a #2 option on a contending team. Nothing against Oladipo, but I don't think he'll ever be the guy.

 

You’re thinking like a sane person which is not a requisite when it comes to the Knicks. You gotta lower the competency a bit and that package is exactly what the Knicks would trade.

 

Don't trust anything Amico writes. But this is a classic Knicks move.
