at 1 point we had 3 teams that were contenders

    now Astros missing the playoffs

    Rockets 2nd round embarrassing exits

Texans back to losing the division most likely

Astros aren’t missing the playoffs this year, but I get what you’re saying.

It depends on what you mean by contenders for the Texans.

That's what happens when you live in a state where football is king but your local team in your city hasn't been to a super bowl like ever.

is it fair to compare oilers history to Texans? It’s not even the same owner

Not many teams go to a Super Bowl is less than 20 years of existence.

It’s all Houston at the end of the day. I understand where you are coming from though. It’s good that you have a positive mindset because it’s not easy to win at all and neither is it to be a Texan fan.

Honestly I hate that mindset. There’s two mindsets people or franchises have. One is excuses why they didn’t or reasons why they did. What about all the teams that did? Not even just the super bowl... I’m talking about a championship game. Give us something to really remember on a more positive note.

    I'll put it this way:

I am hopeful to see some breakthroughs on offense this year. More checkdowns to our awesome receiving backs, a good run game, offensive line being dominant at time, play actions deep balls. Efficient, consistent, and effective.

What I expect to see is a lot more of the same with different pieces. BOB reverting back to his bullshit, grind it out style games, losses against elite teams, a couple unexpected wins, and boom right back to 9-7 or 10-6. Win the division or sneak into a wild card spot. Then lose in the first or second round, and hear the Texans tell me we've made progress.

I can see Buttchin's vision. A spread it out attack, reliance on versatility, rbs in the pass game, efficiency in 3rd down and redzone offense, etc. While it all sounds good on paper, it's communism, the execution is always lacking.

I remain a hopeful peasant though. One day I'll get my bread.

And we can all eat cake!!

Hope the guys have a gut check and somehow show well tomorrow. Fully expecting a 1-3 start (at best), but man, would 2-2 be awesome or what?!

2-2 is my hope. 3-1 is my dream. 1-3 is my expectation. 0-4 is my nightmare.

I’m just curious - what kind of QB will it take to run this OBrien “system”?

I put system in quotes because I don’t see an organized approach to successful football to really call it a system. It’s bipolar. One week awesome wrinkles are implemented that work and then they disappear. It’s a really stubborn, egomaniacal and outdated EP philosophy and he’s had everything from pocket passers to dual threat QBs and the best one we have had yet gets crucified for issues that are systemic while his warts get magnified to the point where I get the impression from some fans that any other QB could do better.

How soon we forget the QB carousel.

If you had told me that this might happen and that the other 3 QBs in our division were young, inexperienced Minshew, old man Rivers and flash in the pan Tannehill, I would have lauuuughed.

Now they're all laughing at us.

The EP system works. Watson is the only slightly above avg QB BOB has ever had. The previous GM got him placeholders of in Os case a QB that was wildly inaccurate.

With this said, it's going to be a long four years with Watson running BOB's version of the WCO because it doesn't mesh well with Watson's skillset.

    Texans vs chiefs film breakdown.

    I
strongly recommend watching this video for those of you who criticize the “bad play calling” that don’t know what they’re talking about.
