I would want to trade James after this season, not for us, but for him. I want him to go to a real contender and win a championship. He’s been more than loyal to us, and although he’s not perfect, he’s constantly been a top 5 player, attracted big free agents and helped us contend. Unfortunately we’ve developed into a predictable two dimensional team due to Morey’s obsession with treating the game as if it were an equation. I don’t remember who was the broadcaster in game 3 or 4 but they said something along the lines of “the fault in Morey’s 3 or layup system is that when players are struggling and teams are packing the paint, it puts players into a cycle in which they can’t get out of, developing a lack of confidence (missed layup, missed 3, missed 3, missed layup). Sometimes as a player you just need to see a basket go in, which for a lot of them, is an easy midrange two”. I felt that, yall remember how automatic Harden was with the drive-midrange step back 2? Not to derail but i do think we’ll be fine eventually, Harden should net some good young players and hopefully even though we won’t contend for a while, we can cheer for James’ success.
No. The Rockets have done so much to win now that trading Harden this Summer is a bit silly. That being said..... I think Morey is or should be highly conscious of Harden potentially demanding a trade, & preparing for that reality. I know he's not that type, but it's still the NBA. It happens. The Rockets are soooo far away from being able to do a proper rebuild that they might as well ride it out as long as they can. If they lose tomorrow night though yeah this will be one of the most embarrassing moments in a series of collection of embarrassing playoff moments in the Harden era. It'll cost the Rockets their reputation next year for being a contender, and the media will absolutely carry this narrative that Harden is a choker.... but it is what it is.
rockets would never get equal value, everybody in the league thinks he isnt a top 5 player. Hell people thought pg13 was better than harden for years. We'd be lucky to get the same deal the pels and thunder got when they traded ad and pg13
We won't find another Harden. We just put ourselves in the predicament of going all in this season by trading all our picks and picking up a declining pg with no shot. We either trade them and get something back or end up with nothing for a while as our team just slowly declines.
Serious: PLEASE LIST WHO YOU WOULD TRADE HARDEN FOR: Let's make a list CAVEAT! The Other GMs have to go for it .. . lopsided bullsh!t trades are just wasting time. If you legit believe this. . put some believable **** together Rocket River
He demanded a trade, and not showing up for team practice? But of course it doesnt matter because he is who he is. It was hard for the thunder to let go of Durant but they did.
Harden was never loyal to the rockets fans, he only was loyal to Morey who allowed him to do anything he wants on and off the court. Its the same reason he didnt win as a main guy YET. Gotta sacrifice some of that ego James, trust and listen to others
Anyone else notice how many of the posters who were so eager to trade Harden long before we ever knew of a trade demand are nowhere to be found now that the obvious outcome of the team being irrelevant and trash has been realized?
Oh what a time to be alive... when we all had hopes and dreams that trading at worst the second best player in the NBA would net us good pieces back. My oh my how we were mistaken.
I didn't post in this thread, but I'm glad he's gone. He's a trash human and would rather be without basketball than watch him every night. He can hand out 100k & honey buns somewhere else.
The worst part about this is that our Front Office thought we could be relevant by trading for Dipo... if we committed to the Tank we would have the least amount of wins in the nba right now
so you get your top 4 pick... how are you relevant again? you are definitely still irrelevant and destined for years of mediocrity EVEN if its another lebron james because he would need years to develop.... and chance of that being such an impactful player are minuscule.... so its irrelevancy and mediocrity whichever way you go... then why not learn how to draft develop and trade.. how about stop being such a scrub franchise that even doesn't have a decent shooting coach....
This year with injuries and a shortened season is the perfect storm to tank... to answer your question, the path to relevance begins with a franchise player. To get one, you need to draft well and have high draft picks or via trade. A franchise player isn’t signing here as a free agent. Once we get a franchise player, the process begins. Right now our process out of the mediocrity treadmill has not begun. We have C Wood as a 2nd piece on a contender (at best) to build around ... The approach should be to allow the Walls/Gordon’s/Oladipos to build trade value and continue to gain assets in case a star becomes available via trade. our current path is mediocrity at best without a player to build around. The 14th pick won’t help us get off of that treadmill but a top 4 pick has a higher likelihood of doing just that.
I like it, we are rebuilding and trying to get to where we can compete for a ring. Hardens window was closed here, mostly because of him, he quit. time for the team to move on. would be nice if the Harden Knob guzzlers would as well. DD
