I used to spend whole weekends at my Cousins house watching MTV, we did not have cable, British bands were my favorite hands down.

    I miss those days.

That was funny but don't besmirch the name of Boy George.

    Meet me in Temecula.

Has RAD been on any streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, Prime)?

Always looking out for it but haven't seen it.

Michael Jackson should have been a choice on his own in this poll. I don't think younger people realize how big he was. He was almost universally popular and brought together a lot of different people to like his music. Children in remote villages in sub-Saharan Africa that had never heard of anybody else knew who Michael Jackson was.

I also think people are greatly discounting the sheer popularity and shift in rock from disco. The mega rock bands of the 80s were giant. They can be split between US and UK often times, but the biggest tended to be US based.

    plus Prince...

Plus the American WOMEN dominated the UK in the 80s: Madonna and Whitney Houston (the latter was a bigger juggernaut than younger people would think), Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, Cindi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, Paula Abdul, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, Debbie Gibson.

The UK basically had Annie Lennox.

To really get a good sense of the US vs UK in the 80's should rewatch Live Aid.

Other than a few rock bands that I remember fondly: Cinderella, Ratt, Heart, Queen, mmostof the music I remember with nostalgia in the 80s is new wave stuff. But by the late 80s it was all rap.
Today I am more fond of the tears for fears, crowded house, simple minds, modern English, I was big into Duran Duran and dead or alive.

Banarama, Samantha Fox, Kim Wilde, and Kate Bush were all huge internationally, but did not have the same level of fame in the US. They're mostly forgotten now except for Kate Bush due to Stranger Things.
