Cheapskates and especially trolls and their bots and alternate accounts would be mostly eliminated if this a pay only site

Time for us to contribute or else

I imagine the fee is going to be crazy high if Clutch were forced to replace ad revenue with some sort of recurring membership or something.

Is there any other message board where u have to pay in order to post on it? Instead, there should be much better moderation and clears trolls need to be eliminated much sooner than they usually are. Troll threads need to be locked much sooner. As it is, they are rarely ever locked.

look at a place like RealGM...if it’s a place with a large number of posters like a Knicks RealGM or Raptors RealGM, you’ll see like 10 moderators assigned to that particular forum

All of CF has what? 2 moderators?

Trolls are allowed to thrive on here. It almost seems like it’s by design.

    just did a quick check

    Knicks RealGM - 11 mods
    Raptors RealGM - 8 mods
    Celtics RealGM - 7 mods

CF is bigger, but has pretty much no mods...trolls take full advantage and flood this place with their garbage

    I'm against anti-Rockets fans

And if a government wants to shut down the Rockets so real Rockets fans can't watch them, then to hell with them

    you coming at me bro?

I don't know the logistics, but I have privately thought that Clutch could and should offer to sell Clutchfans to the rockets. How much would the rockets pay for a board of fans, and at the very least have some stake in the board to be able to run promotions.

Making it a "pay only" site is a terrible idea. I like how @Clutch is doing it now. He gets money from the advertising, which he sure as hell deserves to get, since he ran this place for many years on his own dime and some dimes from contributors, and for those of us who are able to contribute, we get to surf the BBS without the clutter. We also get the Styx Forum, which needs more attention from supporting members (including me).

There are one or two things I wish @Clutch could add for contributing members, though. The ability put a member on "ignore" and have it "forum specific." There are several members that I really enjoy reading in the other forums who drive me crazy in D&D. If I could make them "disappear" in D&D, the Basement would be more enjoyable, at least for me. I don't mind opinions that are the opposite of mine down there. It's other stuff I won't get into here that can be like fingernails on a blackboard. That would be a cool perk, in my humble opinion.

Contributing Members should definitely have priority over non paying members.

Since the troll / cloned account / sleeper account/ foreign bot /non rockets fan will have a high probability of not paying, then contributing members should be
able to 'flag' them for the Mods to review.

If they reach enough flags, then they will be banished. that way, Mods can see what non community troll is causing big issues and immediately delete them.

Also a chart of their activity.
For example, when Morey dropped 'the tweet' , accounts that were dead for 15 years started posting like 100 posts a day.
    Obviously suspicous

Also we should be able to see if they are using an IP mask, which for example the china trolls are using to say they are from Germany or Brazil or Peru
which obviously are not hot beds of pro communist china rockets fans living
    obvious is obvious

There's another category for the trolls who just troll for jokes, like that smoothie dude who keeps replying in everything with ZERO FACTS
like 'Oh lucky Maxwell never faced off with Rodman'... etc

it's also super easy to correlate User Name to real fan. The foreign trolls use a random name generator to create their handles cause you know they have the creativity of a peanut.

Like that WNBA dude who's just blasting pro China crap. Dude NEVER POSTED about the Comets or Sparks or anything related to the Women's league. So OBVIOUS.
    @CometsWin

the last user who got deleted was named 'thedopefiend' a very common hip hop term for drug addict.
No references to drugs or hip hop .

As for myself, I want lead these cowards down the yellowbrick road of deletion.
you ain't in kansas trolls, this is Clutchfans, you in the jungle baby
