Before the GSWs, we all hated Kobe and the Lakers. Remember when Artest got in his face? How Kobe would always 1up Tmac when he came to town? Or young Kobe vs Barkley and Francis? Share some of your favorite Kobe moments against Houston.
I don’t have any favorite moments against Houston my absolute favorite Kobe moment is the 60 points he dropped in his final game...what a legendary way to go out
Kobe was ALWAYS better than Tmac That's a fact not an opinion and certain posters here couldn't handle it RIP Kobe, Thanks for showing us hard work not lazy talent and talk wins
Hated how good he was. He was the ultimate villain but you couldn't help but have respect for him as a player. Glad I got to witness this legend
My favorite moment from Kobe is him coming to the defense of Harden and his play style while everyone else said Harden has a garbage play style.
We just could not contain him. He was like a shadow that could turn real at any spot. That facial on Yao was nasty.
Rockets memories weren't good. Kobe showed he was better than Francis Kobe showed he was better than Tmac The Rockets won zero titles when he was playing Worse Rockets fans insist Tmac was better when Tmac kept losing in the first round The Lakers won titles and Kobe won MVPs AND THEY NEVER CHANGED THEIR JERSEYS OR LOGO OR COLORS The Lakers were better than the Rockets Kobe was better than Tmac Lakers Owner Jerry Buss was much better than Les Alexander and never once threatened to move his team, change the team logo and colors for china , and sold his team But as an NBA fan, his competitiveness and performances were legendary. He didn't have just one moment in a regular season game where he hit a bunch of 3s. He had legendary moments from the regular season, playoff and finals . Let's not forget Kobe reached out to Dream to learn how to play the post. This guy was 100% dedicated to being the best.
Wow. I definitely forgot about that. I remember that news breaking about Kobe reaching out to Dream in the summer. How ironic. I also think he was one of the 1st to work with Dream. Now it seems to be a common thing. We definitely lost an icon.
Looking back, my fav Kobe moment was when he torched Pippen and shut him down in the Rockets/Lakers series. Kobe exposed the fraud.
I don't know if I hated him. I did watch a lot Rockets Lakers games those years. I was definitely pissed watching him hitting jumper after jumper over Mobley,Wesley,Battier,Artest.... Man,he was just too damn good a basketball player.
I moved to la a little before he was drafted whenI turned 13. Everyone knew he wanted to be Mike, and he enjoyed every bit of it even with the three straight airballs in the last possessions of an elimination game against the j*zz. Appearances can be deceiving, so he lost me after 2003. But his work ethic and grit (yeah he sold some injuries and flus but it was always some angle or advantage behind them) was constant throughout his whole short life. Even when he was in danger of being a snake to fans he took it and built on it, something kd still has to figure out. i guess the most memorable Houston game besides the Yao/Artest series was the Dwight Soft game that we won. Pure meaningless drama. Top Ten moment for Silver Age WWE
I remember in his rookie year, probably the first or second time facing the Rockets and he was backing up Eddie Jones at that point. When he came in, he scored 17-18 points in like a 6 minute span. The Rockets could not, for the life of me, stop this him. He got pulled out and I was thinking this kid is gonna be special. RIP
I respected the hey out of Kobe the player, the competitor. He is in the pantheon of all time greats. As a player. However, I cannot buy the Good Kobe Human thing. There are too many examples for me to reflect beyond his hardwood prowess. I regret his passing and how he went. I’ll remember his court accomplishments.
Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but my friend witnessed a pretty cool Kobe tribute last night on the NBA 2k Proam courts. Anyone's that's played knows dropping 81 is nearly impossible in this game (5 min quarters):
He was the definition of somebody we all player hated. You couldn't hate him on the court without acknowledging it was because he always kicked ass and took no prisoners.
