Should parents make permanent decisions over prepubescent children's gender?

Based on his history, it sounds like the dad is in it for the money he is (most likely) receiving from conservatives using his child for regressive political fodder. I don't believe he is in it for the best interest of his child.

Like others, I fall on the side of wait and see regarding any surgical permanence at such a young age. However, any good parent knows their children better than strangers and should do what is best for their child; whether we agree or not. Seems like the mom has done her due diligence in this case.
