Yeah, but I don't wanna be this decade's version of the Atlanta Braves. This team is too talented to win only one title.
Think the first miscalculation by the Nationals will rear it's head Friday. Greinke vs. Corbin was a more favorable matchup, winnable for them, but their strategy led them to Greinke vs. Sanchez and should be a win for the Astros. It's gives us life when we have almost none.
We’re going to win 1 of the next 2 games and then win out 5,6, and 7. That’s just what’s going to happen.
Sure wish we had some speed to inject into this lineup right now... Make the Nats pitchers uncomfortable...
I’m numb. My now current routine is to do laundry so that I can fold and iron in front of the TV. It gives me something physical to do, which I believes helps a little. I haven’t burned anything yet, and the shirts look really crisp. I know I’m projecting, but I feel like there has been a letdown after Altuve’s now iconic walk off homer and the dramatic elimination of the Yankees. I’m glad there is a day off and a travel day. The adversity and playing on the road might be just what we need. Maybe being in a hostile environment will increase the focus. I hate/love playoff baseball.
We aren’t going to get it from the team we saw the first 2 games. But the real Astros are more than capable of pulling that off.
I would say that would have been more useful than Rondon or Devo, but sadly they were both used last night.
At least the Astros won in 2017. I don't think it happens again this year. This team's offense hasn't been good all postseason. If the Astros do lose, this offseason will suck. Going to lose Cole too.
no use in piling on, I believe - I hope they're pissed off, hope they can harness focus relax enough and play to have fun.
Patrick Corbin has pitched a total of 14 innings in the last month. He has only pitched 6 innings since October 12th. He is very much a "feel" pitcher like Greinke so there is a real question about which Corbin shows up for the Nationals. Anibal Sanchez has pitched exceptionally well in his two post season starts for the Nationals but he hasn't pitched in two weeks as well and his FIP during the season was 4.44. Urquidy this season had a FIP of 3.66 and in hasn't been rattled in the post season. The point being that there ARE opportunities to win this series and to have some level of optimism.
What the Atlanta Braves did, in my mind, is far more impressive than what the Florida Marlins, D'backs, Royals, Phillies, White Sox or Angels did in that time frame... What you don't want to have is a consideration that you were one of those other 1-off franchises.
