I think this going to be a pretty good game today. This game is very important to both teams. For texas it has to win this game or it will lose its chance to win the confrence probably. And for tech they lost earlier this week, so if they win this game they will probably stay in the top 25. I think UT will win easily.
BTW, just another reason I hate Bob Knight. He told the PA Announcer at the United Spirit Arena (where Tech plays) not to mention Andre Emmett breaking the all-time Big XII scoring record. The jerk said to the media, ""You announce it. That's what you guys get paid for," Knight said. "He didn't set a record in the 100-yard dash" and said that if they were to announce the feat, then they should announce the names of all his teammates. Nice theory and all, I guess, but come on. Give the kid his due. I'm sure if Knight is able to not murder someone who says hi to him in the next few years, when he breaks the all-time NCAA win record, he'll demand everyone to announce the names of every single one of his players and assistant coaches.
RM95: You can hate him all you want, but if he were given the reigns to coach your alma mater's B-Ball program, I would assume you'd be a tiger of different stripes. No?
Actually, no. There are a few individuals in every sport that if they played on my team or coached my team, I would cease to be a fan of that team.
yeah knight is a good coach, but to put it simply he takes all the fun out of everything. And is really just a huge ass.
I got up early this morning to head out to the Erwin Center. Got there about 11AM, flashed my old student ID, and walked into the North Ozone with a wristband. The game was pretty fun. They had a nice farewell for the four seniors before the game, and we let them know how much we've loved having them here. The Horns started off ice cold from the field, but managed to heat up a bit going into halftime. In the 2nd half, we started to pull away, but Andre Emmett kept it close. He missed a couple of 3s in the closing seconds that would've sent the game into OT. There were some good taunts towards BK today. "Throw a chair! Throw a chair!" The guy looks pretty disinterested in his job, and isn't as passionate about the game as he was back at IU. This sets the stage up for a huge Texas-OSU matchup at Gallagher-Iba on Monday night. That one's for all the marbles, as the Big 12 Championship is at stake. It will be a tough game. Dickie V compares that place to Cameron. Hopefully our size will be too much for them, and Lucas' shot is off. Hook Em.
Being a human being, I'm free to change my mind if the situation ever actually presented itself. NBA: Jerry Sloan Jason Kidd Kobe (if he's guilty) Karl Malone Ruben Patterson (even though he may be too much of a role player to make a difference)
Nope. IIRC, Tim Moss was defending his girlfriend. What Cedric did was stupid, but not worthy of me not rooting for the team. But thanks for trying to start ****. T_J must be at the Y.
He's just trying to get it out of his system in case he has to attend the school to which he just got accepted.
Just to show you that Bob Knight has a soul. http://www.redraiders.com/stories/030704/mbb_030704024.shtml Tech wallops ISU Red Raiders get look at future in win On a day when Texas Tech honored its seniors, the Red Raiders might have gotten a small glimpse at what basketball will be like next season without Andre Emmett, Robert Tomaszek and Mikey Marshall. Junior Ronald Ross scored 23 points and freshman Jay Jackson added 17 as Tech concluded the Big 12 Conference regular season on Saturday with a 72-58 victory over Iowa State in front of 11,285 at United Spirit Arena. The Raiders (21-9, 9-7 Big 12) must wait for today's Kansas-Missouri game to determine their seed for the conference tournament. With Colorado beating Nebraska on Saturday, Tech will be the fifth or sixth seed in the Big 12 tournament. If Missouri wins, the Raiders will be seeded sixth and play Texas A&M at 8:20 p.m. on Thursday in the first round of the tourney. If the Tigers lose at home to Kansas, Tech will be the No. 5 seed, receive a first-round bye and play Colorado at 2:20 p.m. on Friday in the second round. Tech can still clinch a bye in the conference tournament mostly because of the play of its younger players against Iowa State. But Saturday belonged to the seniors, who also made key contributions in the victory. Tomaszek was replaced with 1:43 remaining and left the court to a rousing ovation, and he clapped back to the fans as he walked to the bench. Tech head coach Bob Knight tried to get the same for Marshall and Emmett, and was forced to call a timeout with 10.9 seconds to substitute for the other two seniors, so they could receive an ovation from the fans. After the game, as he has done nearly every year of his career, Knight thanked and honored the seniors from the school band, the pom squad, the cheerleaders, the arena personnel and members of the Tech staff and his staff that were ending their careers at Tech. And then he honored his three senior players. As the trio walked to the center of the court, Tomaszek brought out a team friend on his shoulders, a 10-year old from Lubbock, David, who has cancer. David met the team after Wednesday's victory over Missouri, and the team dedicated Saturday's win to him. "They wouldn't agree with me, but I've really enjoyed coaching these three seniors," Knight said to the crowd that remained. "I've enjoyed watching them work, I've enjoyed watching them get better. Wherever we go from here, these three have a lot to do with it." Each player took his turn giving thanks to players, coaches, family, fans and friends. After the ceremony, Emmett said he made the right decision coming back to Tech for his final season after thinking about entering the NBA Draft a year ago. "I've got a great coach, he's taught me a lot," Emmett said of Knight. "It goes beyond basketball. I'm also surrounded (this year) by a great group of guys. My family played a big part in it, and I've just matured and just gotten myself ready physically and mentally." Emmett finished the game with nine points, but he only took seven shots (hitting three). He grabbed four rebounds and added three assists while only turning the ball over twice. Tomaszek also finished with nine points. He had a team-high six rebounds and four assists. "It was important for us to finish strong," Tomaszek said. "You don't want to finish with a loss. We're going in the right direction and nobody slacked off today." Marshall had two points and played 17 minutes. He also had a strong block in the first half on Jared Homan, who stands four inches taller than Marshall. "Mikey is as close to a leader as we have," Knight said. "He played 17 minutes, but if he would have played seven minutes he would have been the most active player on our bench. He's a really good kid." Tech took control in the first half by shooting 64 percent from the field. The Raiders led 42-29 at halftime as Ross scored 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting from the floor. Jackson added 10 first-half points, going 2 of 4 from the field, including 2 of 3 from the 3-point line. The Raiders struggled at the beginning of the second half, missing nine of their first 12 shots, but the Cyclones never got closer than nine points and once Tech regained its shooting touch, the Raiders pulled away to give Knight victory No. 830 in his career, which ties Knight for third on the all-time list with former Mount St. Mary's coach Jim Phelan. The Cyclones (16-11, 7-9) were led by freshman Curtis Stinson, who scored 17 points. ISU's leading scorer, Jake Sullivan, who scored a career-high 29 points in last year's meeting with Tech, was held to just seven second-half points.
