Danny Green is FA this summer - DO IT DARYL!!

The NBA salary cap is complicated. It isn't a true soft cap. You can do things that trigger a hard cap.

In general, it is doing things like sign-and-trade or offering more money than what your BAE ($3.6M) and MLE ($5.6M for taxpayers) allow. If you use one of those on Green, you can't use them for someone else. And we really need a PF.

This is poorly written but I think it's supposed to say that an "over-the-cap" team who does a sign-and-trade will be considered hard capped. At that point they can only sign minimum contracts and have to stay under $138M absolute max (the apron).

Rockets are currently at $123M, so about $8M left before hitting luxury tax. Only 10 players are signed.

He's been pretty useless most of these playoffs, but he would certainly be in our rotation.

 

You realize the hard cap is something that we are not allowed to go over right? It's not a matter of how much Tillman is willing to spend, but rather how much the NBA allows him to spend and that is the taxpayers MLE. If Green wants more than that, we are out of luck.

Danny Green is THE type of player this Rockets team needs. 3 & D, has the size, doesn't need the ball, thrives a bit in transition, and has shown he can be counted on in big moments. He'll definitely get better, cleaner looks with James & Chris than Kawhi and Lowry.

See, Danny Green is worth at least a full non taxpayer 4 year MLE, and the most we can only offer is a taxpayer 3 year MLE.
