Senate Dems Prepare to Grill Trump AG Pick William Barr

Discussion in 'BBS Hangout: Debate & Discussion' started by MojoMan, Jan 14, 2019.

?

Will the confirmation of William Barr to be AG be bipartisan?

  1. Yes, the Democrats will work him over in questioning, but quite a few will vote for him in the end.

  2. No, Trump nominated him. If any Democrats vote to confirm Barr, it will be no more than a few.

If it's not already obvious, the article was written for public relations purposes, not public policy. He shared with the president's men so he could get credit for his effort.

At the beginning of this hearing, Lindsey Graham took over as the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee from former chairman Chuck Grassley. This is a big deal.

Also noteworthy were the announcements of two new Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Joni Earnst (R-Iowa) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn). These two woman will hopefully diminish the appetites of Senate Democrats to instigate anymore hyper-devisive and despicably dishonest gender-oriented hatchet jobs against nominees that they regard as their political adversaries.

Finally, after Diane Feinstein's grotesquely despicable conduct during the Kavanaugh hearings, I do not know how anyone can look at her and recall that thoroughly disgraceful display without having the urge to vomit.

He's saying a lot of stuff now that is boxing him in on interfering with the special counsel. If he's pulling some trick to suppress the Mueller report in the end, he's too smart for me.

Not only does Barr not want to supress Mueller's report, neither does President Trump.

They are preparing a scapegoat for when the Mueller report comes out and is essentially a "nothingburger". We have people who have pinned all of their hopes and dreams on some kind of miracle happening to take out Trump and I think deep down they know it's not going to happen so they'll need someone to lash out at.

Who on this committee said Barr isn’t qualified to be AG because he’s catholic? Is Kennedy senile? What a weird line of questions.

not senile at all . . . that was a preemptive set of questions to head off the kind of Feinstein/Harris religious bigotry that Tulsi Gabbard recently wrote against

Kamala Harris certainly sounds a lot more competent in these hearings than in the Kavanaugh hearings
