I have an SACD from which I ripped the songs onto my computer, and apparently they won't play. I'm using Music Match Jukebox to play them with. Anyone know anything about this? Can you rip SACDs? I think Pole might be an expert in this. Thanks.
It's an audio format like CD, DVD, etc. It competes with the DVD-A(udio) format : http://www.sacd.philips.com/ http://www.sacd.philips.com/FAQ.html
Okay, SACD stands for Super Audio CD. It's supposed to be like the best sound you can possibly get to come out of speakers or something. Most of the ones I've seen can play on any old CD player, however I saw some today that only play on a special kind of stereo. They're just mixed in with all the regular CDs at the stores usually, and usually cost the same also. If they can't be ripped, that would suck.
Every SACD player that I know of plays regular CD's as well, so they usually have analog outs as well as. SACD's themselves do come in two formats: regular and hybrid. Hybrids will play in regular CD players as well. Regardless, my thought is that whether you're playing a full blown SACD on an SACD player or playing a hybrid on a red book (standard) CD player, as long as your ripping off of the analog outs (RCA's), you shouldn't have any problem with playback.
