    Since you can't trade picks beyond 7 years, conveying that last pick is considered an attempted loop-hole around the 7 yr rule....(ie, if protected and conveyed, it would be traded 8 yrs out or more).

    If this is the scenario that's ok . I highly doubt another team is going to up their offer enough to compete with 4 first rounders. Plus even if they do , I bet we can reduce the protection on the picks to make them more enticing .

    If all goes to plan all these picks will be in the late 20s range and the chance of us ever getting a player of Butlers caliber with those picks are slim. You do it .

    Can a deal be completed in principal before players can legally be traded ?

    Pull a morey and fleece like did with presti.
    You cross that bridge when you come to it. At that point youve stockpiled a team of capela tucker harden cp3 melo gordon butler. Thats pretty stout.
    You still have hartenstein and will gain players in buyouts and etc like morey always does. Cmon.

    The better way to put it, "if all goes to plan" we will win a title (or more) then IDGAF if we fall off the cliff later and the 2025 pick is a #1 or not.

    If the Rockets can really get Butler AND keep Gordon and Tucker; then this is a no brainer for the Rockets.

    I will gladly play anyone with:

    Capella
    Tucker
    Butler
    Harden
    Paul

    Gordon
    Anthony
    Ennis
    Green
    MCW

    That gives the Rockets a lot of depth and top end talent.
