I think it’s kind of foolish to keep referencing last year. This isn’t the same team as last year. That being said, this team can still turn it around. We have a few glaring problems though. For one, our batting order is not working. Yuli at clean up right now just isn’t the right thing. Bregman or Marwin need to be hitting clean up. Secondly, Hinch’s decision making has been suspect about some things. He’s gotta adjust. He’s always shown that he can. So it’s time to do it again. Furthermore, we need our non-primary batters to give us something. Kemp, White, catcher spot, Reddick need to be on base for our core hitters to drive someone in. On a similar note our bullpen guys who aren’t Pressly, McHugh, Lance, and Osuna (I’m gonna just count this game as an aberration because of him pitching in a non save spot) need to give us something as well. I honestly trust Sipp quite a lot right now. Finally, and this is maybe the big one: we need to stop making mistakes. We are making mental and on field mistakes everywhere. It’s gotta stop. Astros can be okay and win this. I don’t know if they will, but they can.
They should be more pissed than i am. But what do a bunch of filthy rich under 30 guys do anyway? Whole different world. Hopefully, they are pissed and ready to destroy Boston now. Enough bullshit!
I mean on paper and for most of the season, sure. Injuries to Altuve/Correa/McCann make that not true right now. When other teams had to face the top and middle of our lineup last year it was murderers row. Legitimately intimidating. Right now it’s a bunch of easy outs except for Bregman and Springer, with Altuve showing up sometimes.
They have not shown that. Not sure where you get that. I hope its not the measly 2 game advantage over last years reg season record. Surely you aren’t basing it on that.
Brad Lidge. Ken Giles. Roberto Osuna. I hereby submit that we eliminate the position of closer. It doesn't seem to be working out for us,
You are a very, very silly person, and I don't really feel like talking to you again. Hasta luego, Tomstro.
you're talking to a bunch of people that think this boston team isn't that good or even better than last year. like the stros were just going to handle them like they did cleveland
Hinch didn’t lose the game and a historically great pitching staff doesn't suddenly suck. Jackie Bradley Jr (a career .238 hitter) had two huge hits the last two games against the Astros co-ace and closer. Don’t know if the pitchers didn’t take him seriously enough, if he’s just locked in now, or it’s part of the randomness of the game. Meanwhile the Astros 4-6 hitters are 3 for 22 the last two games and left a ton of base runners stranded. That sort of thing can happen in a 2 game sample and is part of baseball. It’s also the reason the Astros lost the last two games.
He isn’t “done” as a closing option and certainly isn’t done as a reliever. He has a track record of success in the post season and it isn’t like he blew a lead or a tie game. No doubt it was a terrible performance but he gets another shot for sure. When he has a track record of blowing playoff games, we can talk about getting rid of him.
