It would be interesting to see the "stick" rate of picks from rounds 5, 6 and 7. My gut says that 3 of the 20 UDFAs will make the squad, while only 2 of the last 3 picks will. I suspect that talent wise there is not much that separates the last 3 picks and the UDFAs.
Well, attendance matters....so he played 1/3 of the games. If he was awesome in every single one of them he was 1/3 of the way to awesome. What's the appropriate adjective for 1/3 of awesome? Good? Okay? Lacking? Clowney sucks big bags of ass as a stand up rusher. Reed was a SAM Lber. His job wasn't a primary pass rusher but he got run out of town for not putting up sacks anyway. He did half of what Cushing was doing as SAM but whatever. Then John Simon came to do half of what Reed did and everybody praised him. Now we can't find anyone who can do half of what John Simon did. Maybe Cushing will come back for cheap. In case anybody has made the dots connect, yeah, Watson is 1/3 awesome too. Whatever the right word y'all come up with... Oh, and how about a team that has had injury problems culminating with the entire roster ending up on IR last season being pumped about a guy falling to them in the freaking 6th round because he has INJURY CONCERNS?!? Yeah. Whoopty.
To be fair, that entire 2013 class was a failed experiment outside of Hopkins. There is really no investment with UDFAs so I don't really consider them, chances of them making any impact regardless of what position they played are low.
This games name is literally pronounced “Edge-Eh-For” or backwards, For The Edge I think he’s going to be a real nice addition to our front 7.
He really impressed me in the first preseason game. He had a string of 4-5 plays were he made the tackle look foolish. Saw a dip, saw a nice spin move, saw a hand/head fake; the guy has a bag of tricks already. Looked really polished. Still just 1 preseason game, but he immediately stood out when watching the game; and it's killing me that the announcers barely spoke about him. Wish there was some video of his moves from Thursday.
Texans got a steal here. Had a bad combine(4.8 40 but flashes faster on tape) due to injury, but showed a similar arsenal/stats in college as the number 5 pick Bradley Chubb. Third round projection with first round moves.
I thought that draft was really good from the get go. Bouye(not drafted but still nabbed him) , Griffin, Swearinger even Jones ended up with the Pats for 2 solid years. I never really minded the 2nd or 3rd busts because they always found someone in the later rounds or undrafted avenues that played better than league wide 2nd rounders or 3rd rounders. If not for bob mcnair insisting for a franchise qb and rick smith trying to make that happen for him, I don't know which bridge qb we'd be starting this year. Fitzpatrick reunion tour?
Don't give mcnair or ricky smits too much credit, we could also be looking at another brock assweiler leading our charge.
This guy looks like a steal The Texans elected to sit most of their starting defense for this game, which gave players such as sixth-round rookie edge defender Duke Ejiofor a chance to get some good playing time. Ejiofor delivered with an impressive three QB hits and two additional hurries on 22 pass-rushes. He alone was responsible for 33 percent of the Texans’ total pressures in this game. He wasn’t just using the same move over and over again either, he was beating his man both inside and out with relative ease. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-refocused-2018-texans-17-chiefs-10
Also if Obrien didn't keep telling us to be proud of Fitzpatrick, Hoyer and Mallet for 2 years McNair wouldn't have felt the need to meddle
He has come a long way... glad to see him in a Texans Uni. He is a Houston kid, SWAT respersentitive , how could you not want great things for this kid! He humble, smart and a hard worker. Good sign of things to come.
Ya but we also ended up cutting 3 of our top 5 picks less than a year in, don't think any of them would ever take a snap in the NFL. Would be interesting to see if that has ever with a single class before. Rick did have a knack for pulling UDFA and he received a lot of due credit for that IMO. But don’t think that makes up for our mid-round busts year after year. All that being said, one good draft class can change the outlook of a franchise. The 2017 class is off to a good start (injury to Foreman really hurts) and think Coutee, Duke, Akins and Thomas have a chance to contribute early on.
