RT? "I want to play in LA"; 'here, play as far as possible from that and good luck..'

Knew it. Pops hates Lakers. Good for him not dealing with them.

Lakers and Lebron got no one. No CP, No PG. No Kawhi. lulz...

And Kawhi and his uncle get to freeze their asses in Toronto lulz...

nice logic, I guess every team except for Houston and GS should just tank for picks right? They have 5 rings to say we won't need to rebuild at least until Pops retired.

i don't get the toronto slander.

toronto is a great city. great nightlight. great restaurants. beautiful women. it's a step up from san antonio and those big fat women and churros.

it's not like kawhi gonna be out to enjoy those things anyways.

They are roughly the same size as Houston as a media market.

    SAS
    Dejuante Murray / Patty Mills / D.White
    Marco Belinelli / Lonnie Walker / B.Paul
    Demar DeRozan / Rudy Gay
    LaMarcus Aldridge / Dante Cunningham
Jaokb Poeltl / Pau Gasol / David Bertans

    TORONTO RAPTORS
Kyle Lowry / Fred VanVleet / Delon Wright
Danny Green / Norman Powell / Malachi Richardson
    Kawhi Leonard / CJ Miles
    Serge Ibaka / OG Anunoby
    Jonas Valanciunas / Paskal Siakam

Good trade for both teams. Toronto looks very formidable in the East if KL is healthy.

This move has no effect on the long term though... Pop isn't rebuilding. That's laughable and the Lakers aren't better than the Spurs.

Lakers had 12 less wins than the Spurs

YES, they added Bron but Spurs just added DeRozan/Poltl to a 47 win team...

I was wrong about the media market size, but from a basketball standpoint, it's not a great market to be in. That is why can't attract any free agents.

I know what's he's doing I just think it's wrong. It hurts franchises. The NBA should explore improving their tampering rules and it should be applied to players. A player shouldn't be allowed to use the media to hurt his existing team's ability to trade him.

This stuff messes up franchises for years.

    Fixed.

Yeah, that Raptors bench is loaded... that's a problem for Celtics if Kawhi is healthy and plays.

Honestly, every team besides Houston, GS, and Lakers should. Not pretty for the fans, not competitive for the game, but it is what it is. You just aren't going to win against 4 well-coached all-stars 5 (now that they added Boogie), 2 DPOY caliber players, and 2 former MVPs. I wished that wasn't the case, but it is. They have 5 rings, but they aren't going to be winning a 6th next year. But sure, I guess those 5 rings have earned him the luxury to waste 1 year, pretty reasonable considering.

No, you get them so you can develop them to have a chance after the GS dynasty is over in the future.

They actually have more of a chance. Lebron + Refs is a huge advantage.

If he passes his physical and is cleared to play, and doesn't show up regardless, his pay can be docked. If he won't honor his side of the contract, neither does the team.

If Leonard is willing to sacrifice 25 million dollars to get to LA (then another 50 million due to bird rights), then who are we to deny him (or his uncle)?

That imaginary shoe deal should cover those costs. Well worth it.

How much money will Kawhi lose if leaves to LA next off season?

Again, this is all your opinion. A perennial contender like the Spurs should not have to tank - that is clearly not their best option. By your logic, if 29 teams tank, and 3 are contending, then would you rather be one of the 29 teams all gunning for prospects and "potential" or would you rather be one of the three contending teams? Tanking is risky in itself and doesn't guarantee anything - look at all the good "prospects" the media has fawned over the years that didn't end up amounting to anything. The lakers players you mentioned that the Spurs could have taken have a much higher chance of being a bust or remaining mediocre than getting to DeMar's level, and I don't even think DeMar is a top 15 player. (Edit: And even if you know you have little chance of beating a healthy warriors team in their prime, you never know what could happen with injuries (i.e. Steph) or their cap situation next year... building a contender at this juncture is still the right move if you are a perennial contender.)

And LOL at you including the Lakers in that list of contenders. Lebron + Love + scrubs barely made it out of the east, almost losing in the first round. How do you think one year older Lebron + scrubs are going to do in the west? Trust me, they aren't going to even be in the picture this year. Your entire post history in this thread reeks from being a butthurt lakers fan, but I don't blame you - Lakers got royally screwed from this trade.
