And how do you propose we just "add" to this max capped team. Golden State just proved that they really didn't need insane depth to win it all. Swaggy P? Livingston? We also just proved that our depth this playoffs didn't do anything come playoffs. Ariza, Paul, James Harden, Eric Gordon, all played excessive minutes. We need decent depth off the bench to neutralize theirs and keep us healthy until playoffs but when it comes time for us to face the Warriors, do not be surprised if Chris Paul, James Harden, Ariza, Tucker and say Lebron are all playing the majority of the minutes if he chooses to play here. Plus Ryan Anderson, injured Luc, Joe Johnson, and at some points Clint Capella proved to be useless against Golden State. If a lineup of Chris Paul, james Harden, lebron Ariza, tucker and either Deandre Jordan or Capella at Center is not enough to beat Golden state then we might as well blow it up and try again in 4 years, because the refs are just going to hand them a trophy every season.

Can they work out a deal with Chris Paul wherein he takes a paycut so they can keep both Clint Capela AND Eric Gordon?

And if Daryl Morey is able to trade Ryan Anderson, would the Rockets have money to pay Chris Paul the amount previously withheld?

We can offer some.jobs with high salary pay after their retirement to compensate getting lower salary for cp3 and leborn in order to link them together to beat warriors

I completely agree that the Rockets could definitely use a better starting small forward with Ariza coming off the bench.

Maybe. Be we can't pay Ariza to come off the bench.

When I said bring everyone back and add a small piece here and there, that assumes the Rockets don’t land LeBron or Paul George. Because, if they do, one of Capela or Gordon will be part of the trade. And if LeBron or George doesn’t come, Morey would have to find a creative way to trade Anderson for a player or players with other bad contracts that can actually help the Rockets versus Golden State.

If they get LeBron or George, of course they don’t need as much depth. That’s a major upgrade to the talent on the roster.

Says who? The Rockets have Ariza's Bird rights, they have the money to pay him the max if they want to, it would just take the owner being willing to pay the tax in order to buy championships and everything I know about the Fertittas suggests that he absolutely will be willing to do so in order to win. I'd honestly be shocked if he balked at the price tag.

Followed your instructions before you even instructed. Let's just wait and see if Ariza comes of the bench for the Rox, smart guy ;)

Don't see any reason why he wouldn't if the rockets get the impact players they're targeting

You realize that no matter what you were wrong about the Rockets not having the money to pay Ariza right? There's not a scenario where that inaccurate statement is anything but false.

This seemed to be the Barkley model, and it has come back to haunt us with his continued slander of the Rockets on TNT.

Would rather the top 3 (JH, CP, LBJ?) take the full amount and have them work deals through their respective shoe companies to help out the role players; like Harden/Adidas did with Gerald this year.

This has been a subtly/underreported tactic by the Rockets to help attract players.

    Dwight: Peak signature shoe
    Lou Will Peak signature shoe

    Gordon: Signed with Adidas
    Dragic: Signed with Adidas
    Pat Bev: Signed with Adidas
    Lowry: Signed with Adidas
    Luc: Signed with Adidas
    Ty Lawson: Signed with Adidas
    Jerry Lin: Signed with Adidas
    Brewer: Signed with Adidas
    DMo: Signed with Adidas
    Parsons: Signed with Adidas/Anta

We may start seeing a Chris Paul branch of this with Jordan:

    Chris Paul: Jordan signature athlete
Joe Johnson: Signed to Jordan brand
    PJ Tucker: noted Jordan enthusiast
Tyler Ennis: somehow now on Jordan brand

LeBron has major pull at Nike, many Cavs players are on Nike deals under this type of arrangement already.

Feels like we are on a tightrope this offseason, either gonna be gravy or disaster.

Starting to think that one year window was real.

I wonder what kind of backroom deals are allowed or go on. Like can't an owner give a player some things outside of basketball, like investments or real estate or whatever.

How would the NBA know, do they have the power to audit every single thing about a player's finances and holdings outside the NBA salary?

If Ariza doesn't have the 2nd worst G7 in history we would be in the Finals. Maybe a better SF can get us the 20th worst game in G7 history.
