In the NL, I agree that role players are important but Blum will be making around $3 million in arbitration. That's a lot of cash for a bench player.

Additionally without a platoon at 3B, there are not enough at bats for both Geoff and Vizcaino. It came down to either Blum or Vizcaino. Since Viz is considerably cheaper, Hunsicker went with the salary friendly choice. I'll miss Blum and will be rooting for him in Tampa. He just didn't fit with the current team thanks to Ensberg's success.

I agree to a point Ensberg does need to have as many abs as possible I don't think Blum would have gotten 3 mil maybe 2 that imo would be ok. I to will be rotting for him as well as Wags.

What I don't understand is why we couldn't have not offered arbitration and just signed him to the 1yr 1.5 million deal that the D Rays signed him to. All Hunsicker had to do was tell Jimy to stop platooning Blum and Ensberg. This way we would have as a valuable bat off of the bench.
