Good move by the Knicks, they were slated to make the playoffs last season before Zinger got hurt. They are a sf away but they're going to play hard every night. Solid hire for the knicks now they need to kill it in the draft
It is because his wife wanted to be in NY and Fiz wants to be a personality. No one that wants to coach long term and win will seek out a job working for Dolan's. Fiz knows that he will get a nice paycheck and remain in the public eye in NY. He can then retire or go on television.
iMO average to at best a little above average. So C or C+. Nothing impressive. Nothing catastrophic. There are plenty of coaches that are better than him available. Bud, Messina, Blatt , Stackhouse, Clifford. I think that Mark Jackson if you could take away the crazy bits, is a better coach.
I'll contribute some faint praise: If the finalists were Fizdale, Blatt and Mark Jackson, Knicks made the right choice.
Honestly, I thought he was a pretty good coach, good relationship with the Miami stars, if I'm not mistaken, he had the team playing well enough after losing Conley. It was the benching of Marc Gasol that broke their relationship and the team siding with the player
he had a good relationship with miami guys. but as the head coach he destroyed the culture in memphis, attacked their star, and isolated himself. sounds perfect for the drama filled knicks! C+ hire. there are much better coaches out there. take anyone from the pop tree like bud, messina, hammon...
The GM traded away their core grit n grind players, paid for Chandler Parsons to have his 2nd max contract. Marc didn't like being benched when he had a bad game while his other teammates were still trying to win the game. Management used that as the reason to let him go. More of a scapegoat firing in my humble opinion of course.
