Texans have been terrible on special teams. We sign a guy who is a proven special teams player. Nothing wrong with this at all.

Who pays for special teams? They should be the rookies and min contracts doing the grunt work.

Doing something to better ST play is better than sitting and waiting for the big fishes.

Not like they are not trying but over paying for any thing is not a good thing.

    See RA for rockets

These players are not good at it.

It is 3 phases of the game.

If they can limit the yards on punts and kickoffs that will help the defense.

If he can open a hold and give the runner good yards that will help the office.

I understand the game of football, but thank you anyway. My question was, who pays for special teams?

The Patriots paid him over $1 million last year AND they gave up a 6th round pick to get him.

The Patriots pay their special teams guys. They have two other special teams "aces" that they just resigned to deals similar to this one.

What's next, a long snapper? Maybe a holder?

The Pats braintrust might be a little better than ours. Only a tad though. 2yrs-$6 mil is a lot for a guy to play ST.
