you agree that the rockets need to play perfect or almost perfect for 4 games to beat the warriors right?
Yes and rest can help that but doesn’t guarantee it nor does not getting a few games off mean they won’t
I don't wanna see any Joe Johnson or Brandan Wright minutes until they've had a couple practices under their belt. That eight day layoff for the all-star break which our HOF point-guard isn’t attending should suffice.
Screw it - run the roster into the ground and score 187 points to break record for highest scoring regular season game (186-184)
I think every body would jump on your bandwagon if it's reasonable to state that we've secured top seed. That is the top priority of both contenders so finding a balance of limiting minutes and incorporating the new guys whilst also improving team play is a high bar for a team that still hasn't done anything.
they should find rest games on back to back sets and against the worst teams, but MDA will probably chase the #1 seed, and there is value in finishing #1 with HCA against the warriors in the WCF.
The key is min/game. Harden should be around 34, and Paul/Clint, 30. Nobody should play over 30 min except James.
I have to admit it's exciting to finally see the Rockets be able to limit everyone's minutes. This has been an issue with us even since back in the T-Mac/Yao days. Pretty much everyone got ran to the ground. Excited to see more of Harden in the 30 mpg range and CP3 in the upper 20s. Gotta save energy against the Warriors.
This is simply not going to happen, because: 1. We are currently chasing the # 1 seed 2. The schedule after the ASB is pretty brutal. Not enough safe games to get complacent As others have already noted, the key is managing minutes per game, an area in which MDA will make some adjustments
We need to rest our stars and concede the 1-seed. Fully healthy and rested roster as the 2-seed = finals guaranteed.
You keep saying this without mentioning the fact that JJ was injured and started out the season terribly because of that. Since the recovery, he's been shooting pretty decently. Also, JJ last year also didn't exactly light up the league during the regular season, but in the playoffs he showed up and contributed to Jazz knocking out the Clippers in the 1st round. That kind of veteran reliability in big moments is the reason why we brought him here.
I see this as two folds of efforts. Most important part is obviously as what the OP stated, on-court time needs to be managed by the coaching staffs. On the other hand, almost as importantly, players themselves gotta know that enough daily sleep is precious and essential to recover their bone and muscle. Team doctors can definitely give one seminar on that topic to the players!
Then again, he was: A) having to live in Utah B) having to play for the Jazz C) having a point guard named Ricky Rubio I imagine playing for the Rox will light a fire under JoJo.
Too bad MDA is incompetent and doesn’t know what rest or a 10 man rotation is. Sooooo don’t have much faith
I'm talking about his defense being awful. He has no excuse for that. But it's not the point. I'm not saying he can't give us some solid minutes in spurts, I'm saying he isn't someone that should make us the favorites over the Warriors. The dude's premise is that now the only we don't win a title is if Dantoni screws it up. That is ridiculous.
