They wouldn't. Every hot take artist in America is trying to make the Pelicans trade Anthony Davis to Cleveland or Boston.
Spoiler No one has ever accused the Pelicans of being a well-run franchise. Spoiler Job of the national media to get LeBron the best help he can get now, worry about the trash the other team receives later. Man, Clippers just need to accept Tristan Thompson & Cavs 2nd for Jordan! Man, Jordan just needs to accept IT & J.R. Smith for Kemba! Man, Pelicans need to take Love & 2 firsts for Anthony Davis!
getting rid of IT means cleveland goes on winning streak and have a much better run to end the season edit: cleveland got a lot better today
Breaking: I just traded my niece and a cousin to be named later to the Cavs for a 2034 protected 3rd round pick.
as of 12:45PM CST what's this roster looking like? C: Thompson PF: Love SF: James SG: Hood PG: Hill Bench: Clarkson Nance Jr. Jr Smith Korver ?
A lot of people are crushing the Cavs FO right now, but honestly the maneuvering today has been brilliant. IT was a terrible fit and bad for the teams cohesion. Wade and Rose were old and underperforming. Channing Frye was average at best and an okay vet, but nothing special, and Shumperts game has declined a lot over the years. They now have a young core primed for the future: Hood, Hill, Clarkson, and Nance. Love is signed through 2020, so if LBJ leaves this will be his team moving forward. They kept the Brooklyn first rounder. These moves have helped the cavs: 1) save a lot of cap room, 2) get younger, 3) improve immediately today, and 4) set them up nicely for the future. Next move needs to be firing Lue and getting a real coach.
I don't buy all these panic selling moves will improve the Cavaliers chances of winning the title or going up against Celtics, Warriors, and Rockets. I do applaud the effort by Altman and Gilbert to try to make something happen at the deadline to entice LeBron to stay, but that ship has quietly sailed. The real contenders all have 2-3 superstars, the Cavaliers don't. That will be the difference. They had Kyrie who was underrated, but he's now gone and so is his replacement Thomas who was a fake wannabe star. Again, remember LeBron wants to win championships, this is reshuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic.
