Boy, the market value of disgruntled low-level stars is really bad this year. That first rounder's most likely disposition is a ~21-25 range pick in 2020 because the Bucks are not picking in the lottery anytime soon. So Greg Monroe and a late first rounder for an above average starter who's entering his prime. I like the fit in Milwaukee, this sort of pickup is well timed to stake a claim as the new Eastern conference power as Lebron fades. Lots of variables need to fall into place for that to happen, but this acquisition helps.
Underrated means people think he is worse than he really is. If everybody keeps saying he is underrated then obviously everyone thinks highly of him so he isn't underrated anymore. Conley signed what was the largest extension in history at one point so I don't really see how people underrate him. Is he better than Curry or Harden?
Oh nice, a keyboard warrior. When did I ever say "bust" meant the same thing as "underrated?" If a player isn't underrated anymore, then people would stop using that word. Just like if a player isn't a bust anymore, that label would also cease to exist. Yet the labels for both Conley and Bennett still exist. By your logic, "underrated" and Mike Conley shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath, since "underrated" would lose its meaning if Conley became "rated higher than status," whatever that means. To this day, Conley is still underrated. Right, but if everyone dates the girl and it's apparent that she's not underrated any more, then people won't vocally say that she's underrated. And I don't really think you can factor in a player's contract, positively correlating that with a player's actual skill. Just because he was highly paid doesn't mean he's the cream of the crop. Too many players in the NBA are overpaid today. Granted, most of the top tier PGs in the west deserve kudos (and rightfully so), but when I hear conversations about Memphis, it's either "Gasol is a beast!" or "Fizdale is coaching well!" or "Memphis is a good solid team!" and never "Conley is really the driving force behind Memphis' continuous success!" This is his 11th season in the league, and his only accolade in the NBA has been being named to the second-team all-defense...back in 2013. No ASG appearances, no all-NBA anything else, no nothing. And there since there is no Most Underrated Player award that he can win, he's not a winner. Of anything.
Agreed, although everyone is penciling in Boston as THE team. Antetokoumpo needs some solid shooters around him, and MIL could really do some damage. Players in the mold of Redick, Korver, Belinelli, etc. If you double off a shooter, Giannis kicks out for the easy bucket. If you stay attached to the shooter, Giannis takes his defender 1-on-1 and wins.
