He's a good OC but him not being available as head ball coach has cost us 2 games this season. Go ahead and credit the offensive turn around and secretly wonder why not trust them to really get a 1st down. I don't get these endgame blunders. It must look different when you're the guy but a timeout yesterday would've at least given his defense a breath and a moment to call a play. They handed that **** over on a silver platter. THAT is exactly what timeouts are used for....but hey, it's not madden right? Baloney.
Prisoners of the moment. As per usual. O'Brien is doing a great job of developing Watson and game planning to his strengths. SPOILER: He's not getting fired midseason (for many obvious reasons) and he's not gonna get fired at the end of the year either--when his offense averages the most points per game.
Bill is learning that he has a Great talent and is trying to bring him along at a steady pace. However, he doesn't want to put the decision in his hands just yet. However, i think he is realizing that his defense is not what it was...and he will have to win with offense. If this situation comes again (after the Pats and yesterday), watch to see if he lets Watson win the game.
Not without the defense really improving. Watson can certainly try to score 35+ every game but I doubt that's going to happen. The Patriots defense is night and day compared to what they were at the beginning of the season. No excuses for Vrabel.
I’ve been blaming O’Brein for calling stupid plays and time management in close games. On the radio today, caller said O’Brein needs an assistant and hosts agreed maybe he does. It hit me a few minutes later...he has one. Romeo Crennel “Assistant Head Coach” What the heck is he doing? Because it ain’t helping the defense. Why isn’t he yelling on the head set “timeout!!!” Or Bill don’t run Lamar “goes down at first contact” behind the weakest part of the Oline when the game is on the line. Again, what is Romeo doing?
I could see how this game is like looking in a mirror, where the Colts are the future version of the Texans. The incompetence varies, but Bill could be as entrenched as Pagano seems to be on this Colts team. I'm hoping there's no extension until 2019 when we see how Watson does in a full season under Bill.
Pagano will be canned after this season. O'Brien likely to be canned too, because McNair/Rick don't think he speaks politely enough.
yep. He's not a winner, or leader material. He's good at game planning, half-time adjustment and coaching it up, but chokes away game at last moments. Nothing matters if he prevent us from winning games. Only problem is, it might be awhile before we can find a guy that can put it all together.. and coaches we have while waiting for that kind of coach might yield worst results.
Watson was saving his ass. Best thing about Watson going down is that O'Brien can't be saved anymore. Move on from him.
