Durant's injury hurt his chances, but Curry actually ended the season very well with him being out and surpassed Durant's ppg. I didn't realize he was so close to Kawhi on scoring and played 5 more games. But I still think it would have been Kawhi over Curry this year as Curry won 2 in a row already and Kawhi had his best season to date.

I don't see how Durant or Curry win any more MVP awards considering the fact that they play on an all-star team. The narrative of "who has more help?" should negate that possibility entirely. However, media narratives do tend to conveniently change from year to year so who knows.

The year Curry won over Harden, the narrative was that Curry was the best player on the best team!!!

Well after this year, it's likely the MVP will be the Brooklyn Net that puts up a quadruple double and wins zero games:rolleyes:

They need to just change the award from MVP to Media's Most Beloved Player because at the end of the day, the value of a player is meaningless. In 2015 Curry was the sexy pick and the narrative was already written for him. This year Westbrook is the pick bc of the narrative with Durant leaving and the triple doubles. It's not about who's most deserving or most valuable anymore. This also why someone like Kawhi will never win an MVP, he just doesn't generate enough buzz and doesn't provide good material for hot takes.

I'm ok with Westbrook being selected if they just change the name of the damn award. Most valuable he is not. How valuable are you if the best you can do for your team is the 6th seed and no chance at all to upset the warriors/spurs?

Broussard was on Cowherd this morning and actually said Westbrook was the most spectacular player (or something like that) ... but if we're talking value, Lebrons the most valuable player.

To which of course Cowherd called him about for voting for the MVP - where the V means valuable - for a Westbrook.

It's just idiocy at its best.
