Perhaps. I mean, it could have been done in 2 months though. The problem they ran into is that they pushed a bad replacement, if they had backed a more competent replacement, it would be getting done right now. I think the good news is that the GOP isn't going to rubber stamp everything Trump pushes.
The years after Obamacare was passed it wasn't in effect. The lull in cost ended immediately after Obamacare went into effect fully.....and that's not a coincidence. Also, the lull in cost increase started before Obamacare was passed. Anyway, let's try to be intellectually honest here.
Here's a thoughtful approach to healthcare reform... that there is less of a schism between Trump with moderate republicans and Democrats as there is between Trump with moderate republicans and the Freedom Caucus members. So... http://www.cnbc.com/2017/03/24/trum...ption-left-to-fix-health-care-commentary.html
speaking of REAListic expectation... painted themselves into a box... you think they just need to regroup and do the right thing, but... nay, i'm very doubtful EDIT: for those with poor eye sight. "Together we're going to deliver real change that once again puts Americans first," Trump said at an October rally in Florida. "That begins with immediately repealing and replacing the disaster known as Obamacare…You're going to have such great health care, at a tiny fraction of the cost—and it's going to be so easy." "With a Republican House and Senate, we will immediately repeal and replace the disaster known as Obamacare," Trump said at another event. "A Republican House and Senate can swiftly enact the other items in my contract immediately, including massive tax reduction."
Do you lefty pinheads honestly think it's easy to repeal and replace the piece of turd that was created by your Lord and Savior Obozo the clown? Obamacare was designed to fail and when Killary takes the office of the presidency, we will have universal healthcare. That was the plan all along, but Mr Trump came along and literally stuck a fork in that plan and Killary. I am glad they pulled the plug on this. I would let this turd sandwich die a quick death and remind the American people who created this mess in the first place. We will have a new healthcare bill that makes sense and works for everyone....lefties excluded.
The Freedom Caucus just saved the Republicans from a huge mistake. The plan that was being pushed was a terrible bill, only slightly better than Obamacare. Had it passed the Republicans would have owned it and reaped the consequences when it failed just like the Democrats have taken a pounding at the polls for passing such a terrible law. Besides, the crap they were pushing was not what they promised. They promised to repeal and replace, not modify. Cost will continue to spiral out of control and people will start losing healthcare coverage as Obamacare collapses but that piece of crap law is all on the Democrats.
Well this was a lose/lose situation for Trump. Because it didn't pass, he looks like he can't negotiate the way he promised. Republicans are in the Presidency, and both houses of congress, but could not come up with a replacement to Obamacare. Had the plan passed, it would have failed in the Senate. It also did not do what Trump promised he would do with healthcare. It wasn't made cheaper, it didn't cover everyone, and it wasn't a plan that would lower costs of individuals or healthcare in general. Like I mentioned before, either way Trump was going to be breaking his word. I think this way is better for the American people. We don't have the bill that is worse than Obamacare, and Trump has shown that he's a failure. Maybe the Republicans will try again and come up with something that's actually better than what they're trying to replace.
That is a good opinion in theory but the Democrats are pretty dug in similar to the far right. I can't seem them forming a partnership with Trump at all. It is effectively political suicide with their base...but you never know. I'm guessing this will get pushed out to 2018 since D.C. likes brinksmanship and Trump has said he will let things fail. Good luck and have fun solving this problem D&D guys.
There are 237 Republicans in the House and he only needed 215 votes to pass the bill and it's the Democrat's fault? If Obamacare explodes, who suffers? Let a catastrophe happen just to prove you are right? What exactly was he proposing that would stop it from exploding more?
Mr Trump said it was easy you moron. He said he would repeal it on day 1 of his presidency and his stupid voters believed him.
What would be a more "competent replacement"? You do understand that the Freedom Caucus wants a bare minimum plan, while more moderate Republicans want something more ACA-lite, and lastly many Republican governors want to keep the Medicaid expansion.
Well it is probably only a matter of days before Obamacare collapses on itself. Trump can then mount his white horse and come to the rescue. Days!
