I just saw Kawhi with time running out in the first half dribble the ball at the top of the key. As he drew 2 defenders he passed it to the 3-pt wing with 5 seconds left causing one of the defenders to run after him who then flipped it to Simmons in the corner for a wide-open 3 at the buzzer (swish). I would like to see the Rockets do this more often to end quarters than Harden shooting a contested shot in that situation.
The entire play you described is set up by the defense's actions, doubling Kawhi for no reason other than to double. When James gets doubled above the 3 point line, he makes the right play 95% of the time. Not sure what other discussion you wanted to take out of this, lol.
I really didn't mean to be snarky. I should also add... I went the Spurs game on Sunday against the Kings (I'm in Austin it's just easier to go to a Spurs games and my 7 year old loves basketball)... it was another quiet game for Kawhi. But on Kawhi... that dude is a physical specimen. Anyone amazed by his progression... be it defensively or offensively... sometimes it is about what kind of athlete you are and Kawhi just is a Lebron like physical specimen. That said he can do things, especially defensively, that a guy like Harden just can't. That also said... he is nowhere close to the best in the league offensively as as a playmaker. He's gotten way better at this... particularly at posting up and at just spotting someone up for a shot. But he's not otherwise close offensively. And he benefits largely from a Spurs system that maximizes his high IQ, already makes the right play, etc. and people sleep on the Spurs talent way too much. They've got LMA (it's like everyone forgot about him), Gasoline, Parker, Green, Mills, Simmons, Desmond... basically a much better supporting cast than Harden or Westbrook. I hate coming across as a Kawhi hater... I basically love everything about that dude... just pointing out what I see.
