Not really an extension. They basically doubled his pay and bought him an extra year. It's a step in the right direction though so that the rockets can try to convene him to stay longer
Because they are fully engaged with the team they support and love. Don't see nothing wrong with that.
This can't be correct. Harden is supposed to be going to LA because Houston and the organization suck.
Those contracts could be moved now if needed. I mean the Bulls just traded 35 yr old mike dunlevy coming off back surgery playing like 15 games and also Jose Calderon who's been hot garbage and overpaid for 2 years now. There's actually teams that want Ariza and Bev is a fine player for 6 mil a year. Especially when you factor in delledova just got paid almost 10mil a season and he's the exact same player. Beewer might be harder but if the Bulls could get rid of those two guys we could find a taker for Brewers 2 years 15 mil remaining on his deal and next year will be the final yr for all of them on their contracts making it even easier to salary dump. My hope is that we can add a max FA next year while being able to keep harden/Anderson/Gordon/Capela and one of Ariza bev perferably bev. Were a Paul George/dmarcus cousins/westbrook away from being the biggest threat to the Warriors outside of the cavs.
Lol, so the fans are excited about our building block wants to cash more under the new cap and sign a new contract to set him up perfectly for the 10 years vet max level in his coming next big contract?
This may sound weird, but I think Durant and other big names snubbing the Rockets this offseason may have actually brought Harden and the Rockets together. Harden may not be feeling all that loved by his fellow superstars, so he turned to the Rockets where he found lots of love, and money.
Surprising move. But overall I think it's a lateral move. What value we gain in an extra year of commitment with Harden, we essentially paid for in cap space. Good news is Harden is here to stay, we just need the one who almost won MVP
It actually is an extension. He extended his contract for two years, with the last being a player option. And extensions aren't free.
They are calling it a renegotiation. He gets paid more for the next two years than he would have made under the original contract. But, there are two additional years tacked on. The last year is a player option.
They all look pissed, except DA who looks asleep. Glad we made this move now. Puts us in the fight for FAs next year as well.
Very unlikely they can get two. However they should be able to move Brewer and Ariza fairly easy, and if DMO isn't back (I wouldn't resign him) that gives you $25,000,000. A majority of Rockets are moveable. The caveat is that it gets harder the more players you need to move. If a max player wants to come to Houston, the Rockets can make it happen. Two? It would be pretty hard but not impossible.
They all look like they are as happy has someone that just walked in and found their woman being banged by Michael moore
FANTASTIC move by the organization! Harden is worth every penny and then some. Due to the artificial ceiling set forth by Max contracts in the NBA, this is a bargain and at worst an average deal for someone of his caliber. Franchise tag
