GS was able to sign Durant because that's where he wanted to go, if the Rockets lose Harden NO ONE will want to come here. Morey can make the cap space if needed, he can't just get another Harden.
They had him under control for two, but without assurances (ie. signed contract), the Rockets would've had to start exploring a Harden trade as soon as this season to avoid getting KowarD'ed. Among other impacts, this move buys them a crucial extra year to move further away from the crap taste of 2015-16.
Well he's worth the money and deserves it. This makes me feel a lot better... I was dreading him pulling a Durant. And there's no ****ing way Anderson And Gordon should be making more than him. So Yay!!
Overrated as in by capspace alone you dont get stars. But its one thing to have to cleaf 15 million and another 30. Especially if every other knows why.
That's a lot of money to get one more year. 20 million dollar signing bonus for that extra year, plus all our cap space is gone. I guess Rockets were pretty scared after Durant's move of losing Harden.
So since there's been so much criticism about all the offseason moves we made, why would Harden agree to this extension if he didn't believe in the direction of the team?
Makes them a serious player in free agency next year, which is very heavy with great point guards. Well worth the investment.
