I think this argument came up a long time ago, but I'm too lazy to go through the posts from 5 years ago :D. This is the dilemma I'm getting:

Dish Network - You have to put down a $50 deposit, and they will offer the 1st 3 months free of their America's Top 100 or 150. They also said that $50 deposit will go toward your 1st two payments. Also, they will throw in a free receiver and a free DVR. So you will only be paying for 7 months of Dish instead of the full 12. But you will have to sign up for a 1 year agreement.

Now, that looks like a great deal, but I have heard from my co-workers that Dish sucks. Their reception is bad and when it rains, you don't get squat.

DIRECTV - They have a special now that if you pay 59.99 for the 1st 4 months of the NFL Sunday Ticket, you will get the Top Package they have for those 4 months free. Also, you will get 1, 2, or 3 receivers free, free installation, and a free dish (14.95 shipping and handling fee). They also have a 1 year agreement.

Now for both services, with Dish, I wanted to go w/ their 29.99 America's Top 50 Plus. For DIRECTV, I want to go for their 39.99 Total Choice Plus plan.

Now I know there is a choice for cable too, but the only one I can get is Comcast, and they charge a CRAP LOAD! So I'm throwing that option out the door.

Now which would you choose - Dish or DIRECTV?

I have had dish for years now and I have been very happy with it. I dont know much about Direct TV so I cant give an opinion. The PVR for dish is awesome. I dont know how we watched tv with out it before.

    My Vote: Dish

I have DirecTV and have no complaints. Basically it comes down to this....Do you want the NFL Sunday Ticket or not? DirecTV is the only service that offers Sunday Ticket, so if you want it, you have to get DirecTV.

Im with MB and Max. The only time my dish has gone out has been when the weather is VERY VERY severe (probably 3-4 times a year). When it does go out, it only stays out for a few mins.

Definitely fork out the money for the PVR if you go with Dish. Absolutely love it.
