I've been getting up at 6:30am M-F for years now after waking up around 8:30am for work and 11-1 on weekends.

I'm still a night person. I'm more alert at night, I can stay up later easier than I can wake up earlier, I have more energy at night, etc...

I think some people are just wired a certain way. If I'm off for longer than 3 days I revert right back into staying up until 3am+.

I've become more of a morning person after working the corporate life for the past X years.

You just have to stick to a schedule that is consistent and only varies a little bit. The worst is sticking to 10/11pm to 7/8am sleep schedule M-F then going out on Friday/Saturday until 3am and waking up at noon the next day. Then trying to be back to the early bird schedule M-F. That sleep lag will get you.

What about a all day person? for people who get very little sleep.

Get a job with a commute on 59 or I-10 from one side of Beltway 8 to the other.

Also, 50 - 100mg diphenhydramine around 7-8 pm might help.

At thirty years old I routinely stayed up until 2-3 AM even on week nights when I had to be up at 5:45 the next morning. Fast forward seven years and now I rarely see midnight and often crash shortly after 10 PM and don't get up until 6:45ish.
