It was called Ni**er Head Lake until 1962

Now it is called Negro Head Lake?

What the hell is wrong with people?

No it isn’t okay! If the people don’t want to name it after some black Appeals Court Judge no one has heard of, so be it.

I don’t care, name it Bob Lanier Lake or Jew Don Boney Lake or Bill O’Brien Lake.... just try to avoid being overtly racist.

 

That is embarrassing, I grew up in Baytown.....never even knew that existed.....

I agree they should change the name but I think I and many others will find "Bill O'Brien Lake" also offensive.

 

I'm not surprised that it once was called that and in US history there have been a lot of places with offensive names and even now still do.

I'd say it's offensive but Baytown itself is offensive. It's like the alcoholic, cig smoking sister of Willowbrook.

 

Don't drag Willowbrook into this It was cool place to hang out in the 80`s

 

Baytown is like a harbinger of what is to come if you keep going East toward the piney woods.

Believe it or not but because of Amazon Greenspoint is starting to grow into something again.

 

That's impressive. I haven't been in that mall in around 30 years.

Oh no, the mall is still trash but the area id becoming a major logistics hub. Meaning, new jobs.
