    I'm still in high school right now but I'll be starting college full time in a year. I know I want to go into some computer field (probably networking) and I was wondering if anyone knew some books I could read that would help give me a solid background to start with.

    note that there is a difference between academic books and professional books. Reading certification books, vendor books, and even the O'Reilly animal books may not be right for you--as they can be too specialized and often rely on you having equipment to play with.

    I suggest going to your nearest university book store and buying the books that they are using to teach the classes. Maybe even ask a professor.

    If you want the Cisco books on internetworking, I have them all for $15 a piece (usually $60). My roommate just passed his CCIE ... the big one!!! and is selling his books.
