He is not a super star. His specialty is defense with a bit of points production. What amaze me is; with that level intensity of his defensive plays, he has almost never been in foul trouble. Notice that?

Gonna miss his tough defense but his offense is disappointing. He’ll play with some team willing to give him 3 years $40 mil. That won’t be here

Personally hated his signing last summer, but Ariza grew on me. He always seemed to be trying to do too much, but experimentation and player development was the Rockets theme last season. Besides, I appreciated his effort in a Yao-less year.

While I'm curious as to how Ariza would've played with Yao, I'm not too upset by the move.

OTOH, as some other posters said, it is troubling to see Ariza shipped out so quickly after he was so heavily woo'ed last summer by Morey. I realize "it's just business," but still I'd like to see a little more of a show of loyalty... or less butt-kissing in the first place.
