Is it.... T-Mac- Too quiet, showed little to no emotion at all. Can't lead or carry the team. Takes too many jumpshot instead of going strong to the basket. Not playing to his potential. Yao- Plays too passively. Poor rebounding and blocking skills. Can't lead or carry the team. Doesn't demand the ball enough. Not playing to his potential. Howard/Taylor- Poor defense and rebounding. Not athletic enough at their position. Jim Jackson- Takes too many shots for a role player. Takes too many careless in front of a defender shots. Cant' knock down the open shots. Too old. Wards/Lue- Too small or old(ward). Poor at passing and bringing the ball up court. Turn over prone. Cant' get to the basket or knock down an open shot. Bench player- They're simply not talented or good enough to play at a high level of basketball. Too thin. Jeff Van Gundy- Poor offensive scheme. Hard headed and refuse to change. Too hard on the players.
While we have some of the problems above, they are not our main problem. I say it's the rebounding. We don't have to out-rebound the opponents like last year. We'll win some games if we can stay even with them. It's not easy but 2, 3 more rebounds per game will raise our PPG by 2, 3 and that will do the job.
I agree about TMac not going to the hole. I keep waiting to see the guy I saw on Orlando's team last year. The guy that just blew past defenders....
the problem is JVG. not that he is a bad coach. he just doesnt fit our team. we have offensive players (tmac, yao, mo, jj, sura, howard, boki) that are wasted because of JVG's lack of offense. we are playing to our weakness by trying to dominate on the defensive end. i know defense wins championships, but tell me one championship team that couldn't score. JVG is more suited for a team with many good defensive talents like indiana and detroit. those teams will not be looking for a coach this summer, but he might be a good fit in memphis or denver.
