The Houston Rockets are built to dethrone the Warriors
    By Neil Greenberg October 17

The last three NBA Finals have featured the same two teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, so it makes sense that everyone is looking for another team to crash the party. Look no further: The Houston Rockets are the only team in the Western conference that can match the reigning champion Warriors on both sides of the court.

They have two of the best point guards in the league, a host of shooters, versatile big men and more depth than ever, allowing them to build on their 55-win season from a year ago and make their deepest playoff run since 1995, when they won it all at the expense of the Orlando Magic.

Houston had the NBA’s second-best offense last season (102.5 points per 100 possessions) and no team was more efficient in the half-court, per Synergy Sports (100.5 offensive rating). The Rockets attempted 527 more threes than any team in league history and ranked fourth in the number of shots per game that came from the restricted area (31.1). A three-point shot is the third-most efficient shot in the NBA, trailing only a trip to the free throw line (1.52) and shots from the restricted area (1.21). Incidentally, Houston also took the most attempts from the free-throw line in 2016-17 (26.5 per game), with Harden excelling at drawing a foul on three-point shots. Only 2.1 percent of the team’s possessions were post-ups, the lowest rate in the league.

James Harden, the team’s floor general, was the MVP runner-up after averaging 29.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 11.2 assists per game, marks that have been achieved by only one other player in NBA history: Oscar Robertson (1961-62 and 1964-65). Harden also led the league with 27.1 points created via assists per game, with more than 102 assists apiece to five teammates.

Now they have Chris Paul, an eight-time All-NBA and nine-time All-Defensive team member, plus versatile defenders Luc Mbah a Moute and P.J. Tucker to help take them to the next level.

Trade Anderson and Ariza for anything.

Start Thicky Thick Tucker and Lick My Bootay.

Ariza and Anderson vs Durant and Green... That's the entire problem in a nutshell guys. I just saved wasteful time and days of reading through irrelevant bs. Your welcome.

Umm, what about the WCF in 2015???

This is why I don't get worked up about what so-called national journalists have to say about our team, because if they can't even get basic facts straight how the hell can they have an opinion that's worth listening to?

We should only play Anderson when Green isn't in the game. Problem solved.

I think he's saying we make WCF and ADVANCE to NBA finals since his whole premise is we can dethrone the warriors and make finals and win it all.
    That's how I chose to read it. : )

In reality I know we likely still struggle to advance past Spurs or Warriors in the grit of the playoffs.
I hope we can change that this year.
