I can’t quite understand the root for Alabama philosophy in this game.

Big 12 is still not that well respected. Good Oklahoma got in, but we know nationally it isn’t viewed as the strongest conference. Though I guess none are except for SEC.

In any case, Oklahoma taking down Alabama wound day a lot about the Big 12 to me.

If OU took down Alabama AND UT took down Georgia it’s be one heck of a conference statement.

The reverse is the most likely of course.

    True.

    But OU sucks.

    Roll Tide.

I'm glad we got the Sugar Bowl nod even if I feel like Georgia is going to be the toughest opponent we've played in years. If we want to have a chance in this game, we can't commit the same types of errors we did in the Big 12 championship.

Ya we were able to overcome a lot of the offensive penalties against OU's D (for the most part) but shooting ourselves in the foot against Georgia will be an entirely different story.

Given the direction the NFL is heading, I'd think he could be the next Sean McVay type there. I'm surprised he'd pick USC OC over the Browns OC or even potentially Green Bay OC. Fail in the NFL and he could always come back to college - but fail at USC and his star-power is gone.

He knows he will gave good talent at USC. In the pros the talent is more even.

His offense will wreak havoc in the Pac 12 and he can recruit excellent quarterbacks. All the best quarterbacks are from Texas and California.

Makes you wonder if he got some assurances if Helton gets canned.

If the offense does what they are supposed to, then how does Helton get canned. It's a catch 22.

Same reason Strong got canned after hiring Sterling Gilbert. Grant it the USC defense wasn’t as big of a problem but it wasn’t very good either.

Yeah but they didn't keep Sterling Gilbert around either. Their problem this season was offense, if Kingsbury beefs up the offense, then he saves Helton's job. I just do not a scenario where Helton gets fired and Kingsbury gets promoted.

Could just be a stepping stone for Kingsbury to the NFL or a bigger college head coaching job

Yet they cleaned house on the defensive side as well. Without any type of assurances, this could essentially be a one year tryout for Kliff which is why some people are questioning it. But obviously he is betting on himself and can't fault him for that.

From the 2020 class I believe. The Austin kid re-affirmed his commitment.

We all need to be concerned about the OL/DL going into next year.
