I probably will. Per some comments by the showrunner (writer of Orphan Black), the series is going to add prequel info in the form of flashbacks. And it will draw more info from the graphic novels themselves. (Spoilers in there, I'm sure, beyond what we know from the movie.) Not sure if the comic book provided more info on pre ice-age days of the train as a luxury ride around the world. So, I suspect we will probably get more info on that and maybe the invention of its Perpetual Motion Engine (and maybe more insight on why it can't stop now?)
If it wasn't for Tiger and Phil, which was pretty good, I wouldn't have even known this show started. So I started with episode 2. I couldn't even finish it and fell asleep. There was no interest in the characters. They were dull. And as dull as Jennifer Connelly was, you could still tell that the rest of the cast wasn't even at her level. She carried it. And that was not a good thing. It was like a Jeff Passan thing. This show is in trouble. The best part of the film was that the train sections had character, and that those sections were sprinkled with interesting characters. Neither was happening here. I will give it a few more eppies to develop, but not interested in who committed these murders at all. TNT has some work to do. This show had some promise. Yet it's almost dead to me already. Plus Connelly has lost too much weight. She's almost anorexic here. She needs to gain a few pounds of muscle. Tiger and Phil, and Tom Brady. Fun. This, not so much. 5/10
And a TNT note, Russell Wilson is gonna be broke. 300,000 meals because everyone sank a drive within 12 feet. That may not sound like a lot of cash flow. But that really is. I mean you could be talking 6M dollars to charity for just $20 meal. That dude is f'd. Luckily his wife ok'd it. They should have given him more street cred for that donation, but I don't think anyone was really doing the math. That was almost 1/3 of what was given that day by Everyone.
So in the movie, the poor kids were needed for fuel or little hands manual labor or something, right? Saw the first episode of the show - if the poor kids aren't needed, why is the front of the train even keeping the back attached with the violent actions?
For whoever said Snowpiercer sucked. You suck. At least the movie is different. For example the movie It Follows. I’m sure some people think the plot or mechanism pushing the plot sucks. But damn at least it is different. That is a lot to ask in this day in age. With superhero/sequel into oblivion.
Just about to finish the second episode. I get that it's TNT, but I hope the show doesn't become a police procedural with elements of class division. So far, it's been just "main character is a former cop who also happens to be in the lowest class. Watch him solve this overarching crime and progressively change the minds of the upper class as he does so!" Just want to point out that the current tv show is based off a movie, which was based off a book. I get where you're coming from, but it's not exactly the best argument for this being "different" or original.
There’s literally never been more and more variety of tv to watch in the history of tv. Movies... maybe you have a point there. But from a tv perspective we are beyond the point where we’ve stopped watching above average stuff because other more interesting and better stuff has come out.
I understand that. And the person that quoted me below your quote is right also. But if it is something adapted from something else that makes my point even more. There are a ton Ton of books out there that would make wonderful movies if made correctly. If it is something original then there are not many being financed and done well in the last 15 years compared to the previous 15 because obviously they are not as profitable. I assume the overhead and cost is more now I dunno.
