It looks good. They look like they've got style like Westworld. Solid lead actress with appeal. But they will need to extend beyond the train a bit otherwise it's going to be the same story all over again with a little more whacko in it. There have been 3 movies and now a TV Show. They've got to flip the hero narrative somehow for it to be get into the brilliant zone.
The sublime sense of loss... to love life, to love it even when you have no stomach for it and everything you’ve held dear crumbles like burnt paper in your hands, your throat filled with the silt of it. When grief sits with you, its tropical heat thickening the air, heavy as water more fit for gills than lungs; when grief weights you like your own flesh only more of it, an obesity of grief, you think, How can a body withstand this? Then you hold life like a face between your palms, a plain face, no charming smile, no violet eyes, and you say, yes, I will take you I will love you, again. Spoiler
I saw the movie a few weeks ago and liked it but I agree it might be hard to carry as a series. I'm trying to find the other movies. What are their titles?
or he confused the English release of the graphic novel, as 3 volumes. speaking of which, if you go down the rabbit-hole of the production stalls on this tv series, they completely scraped the pilot dropping the writer (Josh Friedman, who wrote Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles, and wrote for Speilberg) to go in a different direction with the writer of Orphan Black. Friedman seems like he created a winning pilot, but comes off as a big ******* in one of the articles about the breakup ... including some pretty outrageous tweets towards the new writer ... tweeting while drunk? anyhoot: The Orphan Black writer says he's trying to bring in more elements from the graphic novel. And he's also including character-development flashback scenes to times before the train and ice-age.
I still have a hard time understanding why moving on a uniformly superfrozen surface is going to do much better at keeping you warm than standing still. Some friction heat from the tracks, but more than offset by wind chill and poor insulation. The entire premise has never made sense to me.
Snowpiercer... never has a more over-rated piece of junk been more praised.. unless you count the Home Alone movies.
I always assumed there was some form of heating taking place, powered by the same things that power the water, engine, lights, etc. Did they say in the movie that friction kept them warm?
The train is just a sci-fi allegory of class warfare Some genius dude invented a perpetual-motion engine, which is against the law of physics, and thus, sci-fi. This was created as a luxury train prior to the ice-age. A rapid-onset ice age changed everything The train encapsulated a class structure that must perpetually keep going or civilization will die (brainwashing included) The movie says the train needs to keep moving in Perpetual motion => allegory of perpetual class wars Those who like discussing plot-holes in sci-fi allegories like this can consider a couple other things of the movie: Does a perpetual-motion engine (that no longer has a train station) need to keep moving to maintain equilibrium? The train creates water by collecting snow it captures while crashing through snow drifts If it stops, can't you just get out and overrun the upper class cars? and again, the train was built for pleasure prior to ice-age. It wasn't a thought-out plan to survive. anyhoot, don't take this as I want to discuss graphic novel plot-holes. I don't. I enjoyed the allegory and world.
I'm cool with things not always making perfect sense. That said, the thing that doesn't make perfect sense, or much sense at all really, is the entire basis of the story.
LMAO, I kinda feel the same way. I only like Bong's crime dramas. Guess I need to watch the movie again before the series start. I do love me some Jennfer Connelly. 90s version of course.
This is some Alex Jones stuff right here. Where do I buy my willy wonka survival kit? I want one now!
