    People are talking about Trump's mental issues more than the trade war. 'lunatic' and 'dictator' are the two common keywords in the discussions. People will laugh it off even the worse is coming.

    That would be devastating to China.

    China's best move would be to stir up a nationalistic boycott against the US and use it to continue stealing our technology and try to innovate themselves.

    Yes, a new China trade deal would be possible if:
    1. We knew clearly and consistently what we wanted to achieve
    2. We leveraged our strong economic partners, and
    3. China felt the whitehouse was trustworthy.

    As none of those three things are true, there will now be no deal for the foreseeable future.

    I didn't want to start a whole new thread on this because it's more of a shower thought but it's a genuine question.

    We all know Trump had a ghost writer author his book "Art of the Deal". Do you think Donald Trump has even read his own book the "Art of the Deal"? I just don't see them man ever sitting down for more than 10 minutes actually reading text. I just find it kinda surreal that it's a legitimate question whether Donald Trump actually knows the content in books that he claims to have authored.

    This. I give Trump credit for being the only one willing to take on China, but he appears to be poorly equipped mentally to do so.

    The Chinese government is atrocious and the largest global threat to democracy and individuality. They are thin skinned and do not care about the welfare of their own people and it will only get worst under Dictator Xi.

    True. I think the best response by the United States would be to criticize and antagonize our traditional allies. Maybe we can accomplish that at the G7.

    We had a plan to take on China in place with TPP. Maybe it wasn’t the best plan, but it was a multilateral plan instead of unilateral.
