actually, besides the Chinese consumers, the main beneficiaries (of China lowering tariffs) include producers from the EU, SK, Japan

    you don't know what US made consumer products are exported to China;
can you name one US product that Chinese consumers want ?
to the extent that final assembly is done in China and the finished products are shipped from China to the US,
from the US perspective, iPhones are imports from China

Those laid off better learn to spend less. That's how it works right?

Builds their character, while they stand strongly beside President Trump in his moment of need.

the theme of Trump trade rhetoric has been that the US'd be better off not trading; not true as per NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research) Working Paper No. 24407, https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/04/what-is-the-value-of-trade-to-the-us-economy, which has concluded that

international trade raises the U.S. gross domestic product by between 2 and 8 %

and to quote the father of modern GOP / Conservaticism, Ronald Reagan, https://www.youtube.com/530d6e86-97a0-487c-bff7-5f49220b6851 ,

‘We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag.’

America’s experiment with protectionism was a disaster for the working men and women of this country. When Congress passed the Smoot-Hawley tariff in 1930, we were told that it would protect America from foreign competition and save jobs in this country—the same line we hear today. The actual result was the Great Depression, the worst economic catastrophe in our history; one out of four Americans were thrown out of work.

Ever since that time, the American people have stayed true to our heritage by rejecting the siren song of protectionism.

Post-Reagan, japan has been the most vivid eg of the failure of protectionism, its economy has been stuck in mud since the early 1990s.
if i remember my history, for a long time, US automakers could not export its autos there; FedEx could not get landing rights there

They had a very protectionist auto policy up until the past decade. That however has nothing to do with trade — Japan is a major importer and exporter.

And... not surprising, the trump solution to hurting American's farmers ($12B subsidies) isn't helping many farmers hurt by trump's trade wars...

Failure in practice for the USA.

Leads to socialism in giving borrowed money away to farmers instead of letting them sell their goods.

It’s a fun myth (see soy isoflavones or aka estrogen).

    No pic, sorry to disappoint

Because the US is the only country in the history of planet earth to subsidize its agricultural sector or implement “protectionist” legislation. First. Ever.
