The commerce secretary’s list of ethical conflicts would make even Scott Pruitt blush.

Wilbur Ross, like his former White House colleague Scott Pruitt, is an interesting and unevolved version of Homo Paludosus: mired in myriad and ongoing ethical conflicts, subjected to tawdry revelations about his finances and business practices, and yet apparently impervious to extinction.
Ross, to be sure, hasn’t trafficked in all of the deeply swampy acts that made Pruitt so scandalicious. As far as we know, Ross hasn’t enlisted his security detail and staff to go shopping for him, he hasn’t hit up lobbyists for bargain condo rentals, and he hasn’t asked a big corporation to give his wife a business.

Like Trump, Ross inflated his net worth when Forbes asked about his wealth. Alexander reported last November that Ross had been trying to convince Forbes in 2016 that he was worth $3.7 billion before Forbes finally settled on a figure of $2.9 billion. Alexander discovered that the actual figure appeared to be about $700 million and Ross was simply lying about the missing billions. Alexander also recently parsed a litany of Ross’s financial conflicts of interest, noting that all of it added up to an “ethical nightmare.”

Don't know whats worse... that the current president of the United States is owes so much money, or that this major world bank (that has loaned trump so much money) considers his such a bad risk of not paying the money back? And of course, its clear where the bank got the idea he might duck paying the loans back...

Deutsche Bank reportedly considered restructuring Trump's loans on worries he might default

Deutsche Bank officials were worried enough that President Donald Trump might default on loans after he was elected that the institution considered extending the repayment dates, according to a Bloomberg News report Wednesday. The Trump Organization had about $340 million in outstanding loans that were to come due in 2023 and 2024, or potentially in the president's second term should he win re-election in 2020. Bank officials worried about the optics of collecting from a sitting president, so they considered pushing out the due dates to 2025, the report said. Ultimately, the bank apparently decided against taking actions for reasons that are not clear, opting instead to not do any additional business with Trump.

President Trump has long done business with Deutsche Bank. Reports emerged earlier this month that the president had sought financing from the German bank in 2016 for a golf course in Scotland. The New York Times reported that the bank turned down Trump, again over concerns about possibly having to seize assets from a sitting president.

Reminds me of something my father likes to say: "It's not how much you have, it's how much you owe." If someone won't repay you a $100, you can tell them to go to hell. But if they won't repay you a $100 million, you can't.

The U.S. is investigating whether a fugitive Malaysian financier laundered tens of millions of dollars and used the money to pay a legal team that included former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and a lawyer who represents President Trump, The Wall Street Journal reports. Court filings say businessman Jho Low is alleged to have played a key role in the alleged embezzlement of $4.5 billion from a Malaysian fund known as 1Malaysia Development Bhd. The team of lawyers and consultants working for Low included Christie, lobbyist Ed Rogers, Trump’s longtime lawyer Marc Kasowitz, Trump Organization lawyer Bobby Burchfield, and vice chairman of the Trump campaign’s joint fund with the Republican Party Elliott Broidy. There is reportedly no indication that people who received payments from Low were aware the funds could have originated from laundered money; actor Leonardo DiCaprio was previously roped into the sprawling scandal, and forced to return funds tied to the scam. The Justice Department is investigating Low’s potential use of two intermediaries to facilitate the payments through the international financial system. Low has previously denied wrongdoing.

Trump Has Now Shifted $1.3 Million Of Campaign-Donor Money Into His Business

Donald Trump has charged his own reelection campaign $1.3 million for rent, food, lodging and other expenses since taking office, according to a Forbes analysis of the latest campaign filings. And although outsiders have contributed more than $50 million to the campaign, the billionaire president hasn’t handed over any of his own cash. The net effect: $1.3 million of donor money has turned into $1.3 million of Trump money. In December, Forbes reported on the first $1.1 million that President Trump moved from his campaign into his business. Since then, his campaign filed additional documentation showing that it spent another $180,000 at Trump-owned properties in the final three months of 2018.

The investigation was in response to an ethics complaint filed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW) , based to a large part on published reports, including one by Politico in January, said Shanahan has made comments praising Boeig in meetings about government contracts, raising concerns about "whether Shanahan, intentionally or not, is putting his finger on the scale when it comes to Pentagon priorities."

One example raised by the complaint is the Pentagon's decision to request funding for Boeing 15EX fighter jets in the 2020 proposed budget. The Pentagon is requesting about $1 billion to buy eight of the aircraft.
