He is doing his job, although he should have someone working under Tillerson doing this.

Trump is used to obstructing justice, probably thinks that what a nation's leader should do.

10 years in jail for shoplifting? Trump really needs to hire someone with a brain to make these lies.

And if he had done nothing you would've called him out as a racist saying that if them boys were white he would've done something

Trump's job isn't to interfere in the judicial process whether it's this country or any other country. These kids aren't political prisoners, they were caught on film shoplifting. They're punks and Trump is a clown.

What other crybaby nonsense do you have for me?

I agree they are punks and he should have let China deal with them accordingly but it still doesn't change the fact that either way he went you would have found fault.

Lol, something about that feels like a Taliban video. "Now say 'Thank you Emperor Trump'!" It'd been a little classier if he coached the players on what to say in private so it doesn't look coerced.

Anyway, good job President Trump. I strongly disagree with @CometsWin on this that the president should leave US citizens to face the music in foreign countries. I want to know the US Government has my back if I get in a scrape abroad. Yes, this was all self-inflicted and they are dumb punks to be shoplifting in authoritarian countries. Even so. We should try as much as possible to keep US citizens out of foreign prisons (we have enough prisons here in the USA!). Now, I doubt Trump had to try very hard. China probably wished those guys hadn't gotten caught because prosecuting them would be an international incident. But, still Trump got them home. Which is probably the biggest accomplishment of his Administration to date.

I would be willing to bet the living ex-Presidents would have done the same thing, and could have directly advised him on this. It also wouldn't be unreasonable to assume China was waiting for an intervention.

This was a diplomatic incident. Much like that kid who got caned in Singapore for doing unjustifiably stupid ****.

Good job @realDonaldTrump. Well done. Best rescue ever in the history of the world.

Nonsense. Stop crying. He's under investigation for obstruction of justice because he thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants and that's why he got involved in China. He doesn't know how government works, he doesn't know there are specific channels that deal with specific issues. The President of the United States shouldn't get involved in shoplifting cases and he got involved not because he gave a damn about a couple of black kids under arrest but because he saw an opportunity to grab a headline and he took it. He's a clown and you're part of his circus.

The US Embassy and the Ambassador to China are who should be involved.

To be fair, I'm sure they did all the heavy lifting.

Trump just bragged about it and took all the credit for their work.
